Baby chick just hatched around 8pm but I had to help zip it and make a bigger hole for it to push out but after it hatched there is something dangling from its butt!! This chick tries to stand but it's seems weak/exhausted and it will lay back down on its belly... But the main point is there is something dangling

Here's a pic:

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that may be the chicks equivalent to an umbilical chord. Don't pull it off. It's most likely attached to its underside. I hatched a chick a few months ago, we went through the same process of helping to remove the egg and it had the same thing. It also took the chick a few hours after hatching for it to finally get its feet. It was quite wobbly.

The chord will fall off eventually.

Omg thank you so much! I feel so much better I was starting to panick!... I thought it was an u absorb yolk sack

My birds have that all the time. Just globs of stuff hanging off blegh! It is normal nothing to worry over. It usually just falls off on its own. My chicks usually have an open spot on their underbelly but it dries and scabs over (the chicken equivalent to a belly button) quite strange haha
