First, is a very dear friend who is the caretaker of my grandmother's property, John Schollenberger. He was riding his bike down a very steep hill going to get the mail last Saturday. We don't know exactly what happened but eyewitnesses say John's bike seemed to be wobbling, then John flew over the front of his bike, hit his head (he always wears a helmet) and has been unconscious since then. He fractured his neck, has fractures around his left eye and has bleeding on his brain. He has been in the ICU because of the bleeding and sedated/tubed because he has no gag reflex.
On Tuesday they tested him and he did have an unusual response to pain, in that his body postured in a weird way.
Well, yesterday when we talked to the nurse they gave us very BAD news. They score patients from 3-15, 15 being very responsive and 3 being brain dead. John is now at a 4
Second, is my 18yr old cousin Jayson Dorchester. He's in the ICU because he doesn't take his diabetes seriously
This will be the second time since February that he's been in the ICU because of his diabetes. He is 5'6" and only 99lbs and he's supposed to weigh 135lbs. He called his mom Sunday night because he was lethargic, vomiting, couldn't feel his fingers and was dizzy.
I've been diabetic twice so I know how deadly it can be and how important it is to take care of yourself. I've tried my best to teach him what I know and to get him to test his blood and do his shots when he's supposed to. He just doesn't get how important it is and he's going to kill himself. I even let him stay with me 2 days out of the week just so I can monitor him but he's so far gone I don't know what more I can do for him.
The Dr's are discussing whether or not they need to remove his gall bladder or if they just need to clean it out.
I refuse to give up on these men, please pray, hope or wish that they will get better
