URGENT RABBIT EMERGENCY

I have a rabbit with a bald spot and white dandruff. I doubt its mites she is not scrathing. It has fur growing in already. It looks more like an injury. PLEASE HELP!!!! She is going to the fair in Salem County today!

Since she is going to the fair today, there isn't much anyone can offer you in the way of help. Either she will be rejected and sent home by the fair committee or she won't. A bald spot with dandruff sounds a lot like ringworm. Without a picture it is hard to tell. The bad news is that if it is suspected ringworm the show committee will most likely send her home. The good news is that it is easily treated with any fungicide. I use either BluKote or 7% iodine on my goats. The vet had me use lime sulfur on some kittens Any of the athlete's foot medications will work too. Or you may be right and the bald spot is the result of an injury. There isn't much you can do about that except wait for it to heal.

I have to agree with cassie - there isn't a whole lot you can do on the day of the fair. If the fair officials think the rabbit might have something contagious, they will refuse to allow her to be entered.

A bare patch and dandruff on a rabbit does sound like mites, even if you haven't seen her scratching. Sometimes a rabbit may get a matted place in its fur (particularly around its backside), which can result in the fur loosening and releasing from the skin, leaving a bald patch without an actual pest involved. In that case, the fur quickly grows back as soon as the mats are gone.

I think that it is scab from an injury. She can't have mites the rabbit in the cage next to her passed into the fair. We decided to pull her out. She shows no ther signs and her spot is closer to her rump.
