urgent-sick duck with puncture wound

One of my buffs ended up with a puncture wound over a week ago, I believe she was attacked. I didn't get it cleaned out well at first because I didn't find the puncture itself under all the feathers. I noticed her getting weak a few days ago and started her (a 4 pound duck) on 20mg of Baytril 1x/day. She is still very weak (getting worse) and I can't bring myself to kill her.
I was considering trying to get a different antibiotic and add that also...
Has anyone tried that? I thought that Baytril was a broad spectrum antibiotic and should cover it... perhaps I should be dosing her 2x per day???? I don't know! Any advice?

Have you posted this in the EMERGENCY section?

you may get more exposure to folks that can help. Wish I could but I know nothing about the antibiotics or their use.

Until you do get some advice, keep the bird warm and isolated to reduce stress.

Storey's guide recommends Baytril twice a day.

Can you get a vet's help? She may need hydration. What else are you doing for her? I would not be mixing antibiotics without the direct supervision of a vet or someone qualified to guide you.

Consider vitamins, a tablespoon of yogurt in a cup of water, a tablespoon of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in a cup of water.

As duckdad said, keep her warm, clean and quiet. It's tough with ducks - they usually don't show illness till it's late in the process.

Is she eating? Pooping? How does her breathing sound?

thanks you guys. I think I'll give her another dose of Baytril today and see how it goes. I do have some LA 200 on-hand but I have no idea if it's ok for ducks, I read someone gave it to their duck but I didn't hear what they result was.
I tried separating her and it was SO stressful. She was completely freaked and quacking and quacking. So I put her back. That was yesterday, but she is weaker today so I could try again.
Poor girl. I wish I could do something.

When I need to separate a duck into sick bay, sometimes I put her in with a buddy.

I tried that and then she and her buddy were both flipping out. I don't know. I shut them in their coop but maybe that was the problem, because they could still hear all the other ducks and they were talking to each other. I thought they would really be mad to be in the house, though. All the duckies are tucked in for the night now and the sick one (who basically can't walk now

) is tucked into a corner so she won't be trampled and I think she's happier with the flock than isolated. So sad

I wish I could help her. I did post in the emergency list and got a response that linked to giving poultry penn-g for infected bites. I'll post it here for future reference...
