Hi!!! I need tips on raising humidity in a styrofoam incubator!! I can’t get my humidity higher than 35% and that’s obviously way too low for duck eggs. I’ve filled all of the reservoirs and I’ve put wet paper towels and wet sponges in there as well. Nothing is working!! Please help!!

Are you confident your hygrometer is working properly? That would be the first thing I would check. Usually a sponge does the trick. It's all about surface area of the water.

Yes, that happens a lot unfortunately. Hygrometers aren't super reliable.

What day of incubation are you on? Do you have time to get a secondary hygrometer to check it against? Early days of incubation aren't as important to have high humidity. Lower humidity in the early days of incubation actually causes less issues than too high of humidity in my experience.

I have 3 duck eggs. The first one is on day 21 and the second one is on day 19 and the third one is on day 18. I don’t have a secondary one. The Walmart near me only had 1 in the whole store. Any on amazon that you would recommend?

lol, Well last year I ordered a multipack of the cheapo thermometer/hygrometers because even my nice digital hygrometer went bad and I figured if I had at least a couple in use it would be obvious to me if they started to differ a lot. I've only had to toss 3 after a year of using them so I guess they're not that bad!

As far as thermometers they're much easier to calibrate than hygrometers in my opinion and I use a meat thermometer to calibrate and check against my digital ones.
