Urine in carpet

I do think that I'd rather smell vinegar than urine. I'll have to try that. We have 4 dogs, and 3 are boys.

We rent the carpet cleaner that you can get near the checkout at the grocery store. They really work well for us. We want to buy one but they're several hundred bucks!

White vinager and baking soda. Soak it in the vinager then rub with the baking soda. Got the smell out of a mattress. Cat is outside now. Worked great.

yah but Im not doing that to the whole living room! I will buy baking soda and vinigar and mix with carpet cleaner??? what do you think?

Vinegar will help Problem is urine never dries ever so every time you shampoo your carpet you revitalize the smell
Mix the vinegar with water and apply to your carpet
When you shampoo or steam clean it add the baking powder to the water and extarct as much water as possible
The only way to fix it permanatly is to replace the carpet and pad

Kerosene will take the smell out...just pour kerosene all over the carpet, strike a match, and close the door behind you. JK Have you used a blacklight bulb in there to see where exactly the stench may be coming from. It could be in a hard to reach area like along the baseboards and in the crpet and padding up against the wall. I say you should blacklight your trouble spot first. If it against the baseboards you may not even be able to get to it to get it out well enough and I'd just replace it then.

You would need a real blacklight. A good strong one would work. Those little handheld blacklights are too weak if that is what you are talking about. You can get a cheap socket and long bulb at Wally World for maybe $15. It;s cheaper than going through all the cleaning supplies. If you then find the spot the some cheap vinegar would take the smell out.

You need a solution that will break down the organic compounds of the urine--eliminating the smell (at least to our nose)

Two words for you: NATURE'S MIRACLE

This is a fabulous cleanser, not a soap, but its made up of natural bacterias that digest the urine and poo residue and really works quite well. The only thing is that if you have used a lot of other things on the spots before hand it can be less effective. I use it in my home as I have boarding dogs here that occassionally have accidents. I love the product.

This will really be the only alternative to replacing carpet....the other thing you need to do is crate your dog that is peeing in your house when you are not there to supervise. After a while its not her fault that she's having the accidents. Manage the problem.
