UROPYGIAL GLAND INFECTION?

Hi everyone,

Just noticed this tonight. Our rooster has a bald bright-red spot with a white bulb/head at the top of where his tailfeathers start.

Is this likely an infected uropygial gland or something else?

It would be a good idea to gather him up and inspect that more closely.
Determine if it's the gland that is affected or if he has a small wound on his back.

Take photos that show the area more closely, have someone snap a few while you hold him.
