US citizens do you know you you lack a very basic right?

Noodleroo,I'm at a loss when usually my big mouth can go on and on and on.
I swear my eyes are filled with tears.I am stunned by how many voted yes.It makes me sick.
The truth is that if there was any way I could afford it I would move to a state that did not vote for it.
For some reason this year I have found out so much about how bad the food and milk is in the US and I just wished I had never known.I waited and waited to watch Food,Inc on TV but then when I finally was able to watch it from the beginning,I got so sick and sad inside that I couldn't watch it.

Well, the good news is that it isn't law yet, and it may never be. Apparently the senators neglected to notice that the bill would raise taxes and that privalege is reserved for the house. Here's the link: http://www.rollcall.com/news/-201012-1.html

Apparently
they didn't actually READ what they voted on...

Bad food is in every country not just the USA. You should watch Fresh The Movie or Homo Toxicus. It would make you not want to eat corn ever again.

I think if it does pass all you can do is petition the decision and vote the yeas out. Make them accountable.
Somebody said to me today that they have a feeling in 10 years there will be a documentary on B 510 and what when on behind the scenes.
People kept telling me something was coming after the Codex Alimentarius decision on Herbs in the EU. I didn't really understand what they were getting at. Canadians are now watching to see what happens about this bill in the USA. It will not be too far in the future for Canada.

Toward the end of Food Inc there are several people's names mentioned who are connected to Monsanto and have positions in the Government Food area, FDA for one. To me that is like having the fox in the hen house.
Do you think this Bill and the big food producers are linked?

Food Inc was produced in 2006. Those people might not still be in those positions but if they are I would be writing them a letter and if they are in a position that requires to be voted in, I would tell them they are SOL when it came to me. If my State elected official is the one to vote them in then they would be SOL too. In good conscience of future generations, their rights and the health and future of the planet, I couldn't support them. Also if they are so complacent as to not to read the Bill before voting, then they shouldn't be making decisions for the publics welfare as they are not informed to do so.

I wish I had payed more attention to the names, positions and their connection to Monsanto. That info can be found somewhere.

Monsanto are very popular with some folk! Perhaps those people linked with also support the back yard farmer.

A few years ago, Monsanto were growing GM crops experimentally in an agricultural area of England where the seeds may have spread to real farms. We had a period of time when crops were destroyed in broad daylight by a pressure group in front of cameras to publicise what was going on. I saw those fields left fallow after the public outcry but I imagine that Monsanto is lying low waiting for another opportunity. The seemed to have the favour of the British government until the public raised hell.

Excellent info thaiturkey! thank you

It sure makes me question the extent of behind the door good ole boy votes.

'Twas always so. Democracy works properly only in very small communities where all activities are seen. Democracy is not a natural structure for human beings because it requires its members to have regard for others as well as themselves. It needs only two members to break that requirement and you no longer have democracy. Perhaps part of the problem is the party system but, without it, a large community would not make any progress in Parliament.

This is a hot potato

After reading through all of those links it would appear what some of the "conspiracy" theory people have been saying for awhile might be true.

I don't understand the US State abbreviations but I am guessing that Monsanto donated money to the Politicians in the States that are considered large agricultural producers. I doesn't seem to matter what political party they were, as they donated to both to hedge their bets, so to speak.
Curious to see where they put the money in Britain and Canada.
