Using DE

Whats the best way to spread the DE in the coop? We have a wooden floor in one area and the rest is dirt/grass.

Also do I use it in the coop and nesting box with the pine shavings?

I have heard of using a flour sifter, you know the metal one with the handle you squeeze? I am going to use this also-I'm still trying to find a feed store that knows what the heck DE is!!

My flour sifter kept gumming up, so I have the DE in a mason jar that has holes punched in the lid. Similar to using a baby powder bottle.

I probably over do it (like I do with everything), but I sprinkle the DE in the run, then cover it with a little straw. I also put a little in the coop and nest box shavings.

Rusty's got the best idea. They way you just tip and shake.. Much like putting powdered sugar on a funnel cake.

That's my plan as well.
