using human dishes to feed chickens--safe?

Man, this thread just made me feel a lot better!! Just got the chicks, so no feeding off of our plates yet, but we let our two huskys eat off of our plates all the time! Then into the dishwasher it goes. We usually only let them eat off our plates when we're the only ones home, though! I'd hate to run someone off because of it! But, as was said before.... what they don't know definitely won't hurt them!

Frankly I'd be more worried about those awful PEOPLE germs all the others in your house are putting on your plates. Ew. Yuck. (Or to translate, if the dishwasher's strong enough to get the human germs off my dishes, it's strong enough to get the animal germs off).

That said, I don't actually use people dishes for the chickens. They have their own bowl, and we scrape our dishes into it.

i have had 3 children and now 2 grandchildren, think backwash.......i have no problem letting animals use my plates sometimes i think they are cleaner than the kids.

For those worried about the germs pasted along because of a pet eating off a plate or any cooking utensil. You should be more worried about that next passioate kiss you get from a loved one. Many more grems passed that way then any other known to man. Even saying that, it won't stop me the next or any time I see that gleam in the DW's eye. Pucker up and let her pass them bad boys along.
