Using my yardbird plucker for the first time tomorrow. Any tips for me?

This thing is AWESOME. Worked exactly as advertised. Used my new propane burner as a scalder which was also awesome. Heated the water up in minutes. A couple times I overshot it and was able to quickly correct by throwing a few ice cubes in. Scalded between 150-160. The birds were 97% plucked after 10 seconds in the machine. I did 1 at a time. These cornish are pretty big, almost 9 weeks old. So far I am loving my new process. Just did 4 birds in about 45 mins.

I do 2 heritage 16wk cockerels at a time. Dress out 5 to 7 lbs. They knock each other around, seems to work better

Just finished my day. I love the plucker. @Molpet I did try two at a time and it worked very well. I only have one cone and a small pot for scalding so doing multiples is a little tricky, but DEFINITELY within the plucker's capabilities.
I just have one scalding pot. I kill one , let it bleed as I go get another, take the 2 to the pot. When both are scalded I throw in the plucker

Looks like a good set up! I do like the idea of setting the plucker on a pallet. Never had a plucker, but in my old age, I am thinking it looks great!

Thanks! Definitely made the job easier on the hands and back. My wife, the main plucker, already has arthritis in her hands. This machine scored me mucho points. :thumbsup

Oh yeah hand plucking will beat your hands up! Congrats on the successful butchering. I also scald and pluck two at a time but had to get a bigger scald pot to do it. Those giant pots aren't exactly cheap either.
