Hi every one.
i am rizu from india. In my country white leghorn is used only for commercial purpose and its not in supply for general public. Its very hard to find a white leg horn rooster.

by luck i am able to find one white leghorn rooster but finding a young white leghorn chicken is impossible. But one option is available. Those chicken which has grown old and either stopd giving egg or reduced giving egg ( infertile egg) are available. Can i take those old hen and keep it with my rooster to take out fertile egg? Can v do breeding with that egg?

Quick response appreciated.

thankyou.

Hi Rizu and welcome to BYC

There's no reason why your plan should not work. You could also breed your rooster to local breeds to work out broodiness and improve egg production in future generations.

Wel i already have hen of other breed with rooster but wanu add white leghorn. Bro do u know more about white leg horn? Can a hen of 3.5 years lay egg after stop laying egg? How oftenly they give?

I've not kept white leghorns, so I cannot comment but a bird that has stopped laying is unlikely to begin laying again.

Could you not buy chicks commercially? You may not want the minimum quantity that commercial hatcheries sell, but maybe team up with other chicken keepers and buy them jointly?
