Using raw eggs

What are the chances I'm gonna get salmonella? I want to make some home made mayonnaise. I just got a new stick blender! woohoo

I'd go for it, personally, unless you have some pre-existing health condition, etc. If you want to be on the safe side, clean the eggs well before cracking them just in case, or try to crack them on the cleanest side (which is what I do, since I'm lazy)

I eat raw batter all the time with my own eggs and let my kids lick the spoon too with no ill effects so far...
 
OooohhhHhhhHhhh

So, the salmonella comes from the outside of the eggshell and can be washed off. I didn't know if it was something growing inside the eggs or what.
