Using Serrogate Mother Hens?

Ooh, I'm getting so excited. My chicks are pipping their shells! Just a few more days and hopefully I will have chicken families in my coop.

Don't wait longer that 3 days to put the chicks under the broody hen. They need to imprint on the hen or she might not accept them. Good luck I have raised almost all my chicks under a broody. :yiipchick

I have a hen with some chicks that are about a week old. Last night I place a two day old chick under her to see if she adopts the new baby. I found it under one of my turkey hens. I thought it was one of the Royal Palm poults but after close look it turned out to be a chick.

She was adopted by the hen and other chicks.

Well, the first batch of chicks have new mommas. I put six out there, three for each hen. One hen glared lasers at me like, "Excuse me. Where have you been hiding my babies?" Not all of my eggs have hatched yet. I wasn't actually expecting hatches until today. Must have had a warm spot in the brooder. Going to put some more out tonight and then the rest tomorrow sometime. Hopefully they will all be hatched by then. Thanks for the help everyone!
