USPS scrambled eggs with pics.

Maybe they coulod have been packed better as well. Not sure if someone has already mentioned that. But just paper and popcorn? How was that going to keep anything safe?

I am lucky my PO pays some attention. The only time I've had a problem is when the words "hold, call #" was written a little too small. When written big and highlighted I get a call and they are pretty careful with the box. One of them told me the words "Live Embryos" really caught her attention and she was extra careful with it. I think big lettering and highlighted words make a difference.

over the years I have purchased eggs from our BYC family. They were packaged unbelievably well but........there seems to be a "game" with the shipping in the post office. Now I am not talking about our local post office workers...they go out of their way to be sure I get a phone call and the eggs are handled like glass...but it is somewhere in the shipping. They are "tossed around like a basketball". I heard this from a group of folks who took a tour of the main post office in Springfield, MO. They complained about damaged boxes, even those marked "fragile". Seems no one has any control over their workers now doesn't it? The most damaged boxes I have received come from the east coast. I received eggs double wrapped in bubble wrap and the lots of more bubble wrap and lots of peanuts, etc. I am always lucky to have any hatch when they come a great distance. It is a shame as I would love to get more eggs but can't afford them due to post office practices. I have taken pics, too and no one seems to be able to locate the right supervisor to handle this problem.

I also received a shipment of broken eggs once - they were actually leaking out of the bottom. It was definitely mostly due to poor packing on the shippers part. So far this year I have received 4 egg shipments, all carefully packaged, all intact and unbroken.

There is no better way up here to get quality genetics other than ordering eggs or chicks shipped in, and we do both. I actually enjoy getting the eggs and rolling the dice the most, love the anticipation.

I really agree that your best friend can be your local PO, the guys at mine call me at 7:30 am when I let them know I am expecting eggs, and let me in early to pick them up.

1muttsfan...check out the Michigan thread sometime...lots of Michiganders dropping in...mostly from downstate but yoopers are welcome!

I just ordered my first batches of hatching eggs and had a little issue with the post office too. Just rude rude people.

About the packaging, the two that I got were packaged AWESOMELY. I posted pictures on my blog. Link below.

It has happen to me too they played football with mine . If I can I picked the eggs up my self if I can , but sometime you can't. Hope the others will hatch

I work forth postal service, I am a rural carrier and I am appalled by the stories some of you have about your carriers

these people are a disgrace. To the OP, it is NOT acceptable for your mail carrier to leave the package in your driveway! We are supposed to leave it only in a secure location, porch, garage etc, out of clear view. BlueTarHeel said he had a package left by his mailbox, I know one carrier who was fired for doing this! I want to let everyone know if your carriers do something like this do not be afraid to call you Post Office and talk to the postmaster. If the postmaster doesn't do anything then make a complaint online. I will say one thing else unfortunately, the carrier is the last person in a long line of people that touch your package, and once your package reaches the post office that is probably the gentlest it's been handled along the whole time, so your carrier may not have been the cause for your eggs being broken. But, that is still just plain laziness on your carriers part just leaving the package on the side of the driveway. And anyone can feel free to PM me if they ever have any questions about this sort of thing
