USPS screws up yet again

Yes, she arrived the next day ( so much for guarantee) and thankfully she was okay and BEAUTIFUL. I think shipping is like giving birth - if it turns out okay in the end, you forgot how much it hurt getting there. There has to be a better way.

it is really sad that as chicken owners we all only have one means of shipping our precious cargo and it happens to be a government run operation. still do not understand why no other shipping company will handle this, as some of us truly do pay dearly to get our cargo on time. here in alaska, we often dont get the choice of how things are shipped. 90 percent of freight and mail comes on airplane, and you pay dearly. what makes me madder is if i order a part for my truck it will be here next day, however the chicks i odered from cackle hatchery took 2 and a half days to get here. payed extra for the chicks, regular for the truck part. not cackles fault, good old usps. dont figure
, can send most things fedex and it will get there on time, even perishables or a pet, as long as its not a chicken.

There are a lot of issues, risks and extra precautions needed when handling live shipments. If I were a shipping company, I don't know that I'd want to take on that hassle, either. You could get a lot of claims and not be sure if shipping was the real reason for any death. I'm just glad USPS will still do this, or we'd have no alternative but to buy everything locally or within driving distance.
