My duck laid her first egg today. I'm new to raising ducks and thought I had a little mote time. I do not have an incubator but it is arriving tomorrow so we placed it under a heat lamp. We left to run errands and when I got home to turn the egg it is hot to the touch... is it a lost cause 😔

Do you have a drake ? you need a drake to get fertile eggs . With out temperature and humidity control with calibrated readouts you wont have much luck . Good luck with your adventure . 🍀

I have many drakes but I'm concerned about the egg overheating without proper temp regulation.

You do not need to incubate it right away. Also, is there a reason why you want to incubate her first egg? I never incubate the first few eggs of a new layer.

No just new to raising and hoping to get more ducklings. Is there a reason why I shouldn't incubate
