Utah!

Good Afternoon, all!

We are trying to wrap up the LORE project, so I present to you a contest: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=332976

Utah
has ZERO cities open (WOOOHOO! You all do good work!) --but you can pick any city from the "green" highlighted list.

I called the County and they sent me a copy of the new ordinance since it's not online yet. It's quite a bit less restrictive than the previous one. I'm not sure what the licensing fee is--someone told me $5 per chicken.

Just a shout out to the rest of Utah from Moab! Let's see... Monday, Tuesday, WINDS-DAY! Forecast is calling for 60 mph gust. I'm worried about my tomatoes getting broken.
What have you done in your garden this week?
.

Snowing sidewise in PC this am. Chickens are in their gigantic brooder in the kitchen lol. Outside we have a dog run w/netting and shade, but no coop yet... so they are back to the chickie brooder (which got enlarged using a big dog crate and furniture box). I love my new air purifier!

Haven't even begun a garden. Tough enough up here but I do try to grow lettuce, peas and tomatoes on the deck. Tried the upside down tomatoe thing...don't waste your money. At least it didn't work for me.

Forecast snow all day, bleah!

Hi everyone. I'm new here and in central Utah. We have been having gusty wind all day so far. My chicks are hiding in their coop. Haven't planted the garden just yet....waiting for better weather.

The wind was terrible, now the snow. No garden outside in SLC yet or it would have been a total loss! We did turn the old crummy dirt bed behind our place into a raised bed garden this week. The neighborhood cats will be mad because it seemed to be their favorite place to do their business.

I really like those raised beds ZombieChicken!
I got 3 kinds of lettuce about ready, some sugar snap peas growing good, and 5 various tomato plants that I am risking (Mother's Day is considered the first frost safe day here) Our spinach sprouted and put on its second set of leaves. It must have been good too, the birds cleaned it out in about an hour. I might try again with the spinach after I get some netting.
