Hey! I spotted you lurking but you disappeared

Yeah, I 've been busy lately... trying to get ready for winter... We are madly trying to get our perimeter fence finished by the end of September.. building shelters for the goats and pigs to go out in the pasture... Have a guy coming to get the last 50ish pullets tomorrow so I'll be down to just the ones I'm keeping (plus the 80ish roosters that will be going to camp in a few weeks)

I'll have to get some pictures of all the projects and stuff one of these days... don't hold your breath though!!

Glad you like that Blue Orp Mesha! She is a sweetheart!!

AWesome you posted! Glad you are ok, and hope you can get everything done that you need to. That is a big ole lot you have out there! Lucy my Delaware is indeed a girl, so life is good :)
AND she is a major sweet lovey little thing to boot. Of all my chickens, I truly think that she thinks I am her mama! She is my little buddy when I am out there with them. I picked her up last night to tell her good night and she tucked her head under my arm, it was pretty cute.
Have fun processing those roosters (ew!) And yes we want pictures! I think a lot on here would love to see your barn with all those birds swarming around. Pretty cool

Red, glad that your girls are back home...loved the chicken crossing the road bit haha you are too funny :) Any more laying yet?

What do you use and prefer for bedding in your coop? I have been using pine shavings from IFA that are made by a mill in lehi, Drycreek and find that the pieces are very small and cause a lot of dust. Any ideas?

Lisa, aren't those Delawares fun?! I'm glad you are liking Lucy. The pullet I had would follow me around and hop up in my lap, she was so sweet. I just can't get around to replacing her yet. They really grow on you.

Got one egg yesterday from my RIR. We still can't decide if that speckled egg we found the other day was a fluke second egg from the BO, or from a new layer. I need to do a perimeter sweep and see if anyone's hiding eggs......again. Ah well, it keeps me entertained

I just hope my BO isn't sneaking over to the neighbor's yard to lay her eggs! He told us last week that he had chickens when he lived in southern Utah, but somehow, I don't think he wants our girls leaving him presents.

Newtochickens, pine shavings do create some dust, but I still prefer them because of how much waste they can hold. Plus, I like the pine smell when I change out the bedding in the coop. I'd be interested to see what others use that is different and what the pros and cons are.

Hey Aravis! I can see you lurking, haha!

Is anyone coming to Southern Utah that could bring me some hatching eggs? (I've got a broody who's eggs aren't going to hatch) I'd prefer banty eggs but full sized are fine. This hen can set 8-9 banty eggs or 4-5 full sized.

I will pay for them, purebred preferred but mixed breeds okay with the bantams.

I really, really, really, don't like some of the shavings out there..Leland Mills..no way! Too dusty. I really, really, really, like Cal Ranch's shavings. There's my two cents for today. LOL.

Hi Lilwanis, come on in and introduce yourself! We love new folks to share with, so they can share their chicken news!
