Utah!

You are welcome!

Hey Red, did you say Delawares can lay early? Lucy was born around May 26 and is turning quite red this week. She still is rather small....but maybe she is gearing up to lay!

Lisa, great pictures! That one on the left in the first pic looks like Gonzo

I don't quite recall on when Delawares lay. I think it's supposed to be around the 20 week mark, but it could be later. They (birds) get quite big, too. How are you liking yours? She looks pretty

I can't remember if I already said so on here, but I think I'm figuring out who our new mystery layer is: Serah, the blue/buff laced EE I gave to my brother. When I looked at her a week ago, she was still just a polite pink in her face. I got a good look at her Friday, and BAM! Red! I don't know how that happened so fast, but I'd be excited if hers are the eggs I've been finding. Although I don't know why she had to copy the other girls and lay brown eggs, too, lol.

I got another chocolate brown egg today that was even darker than yesterday's. My BCM is now 26 weeks old.

Watermelon Gypsy, my experience is extremely limited with FBCM, I've only had two. The first was an adult and darker, but not super, super dark. My new chicken that's laying is seriously dark. I've heard that they are darker in the beginning and lighten up. I know that she hatched from a much lighter egg. The lady I bought the eggs from said that the mom was at the end of the laying cycle before going into a molt, and they're always lighter then. If you want, you can PM me the name the guy who sold you your chick and we'll see if I know who it is.

My BCM chicken's eggs have gotten slightly darker- she started laying this week and has given me three. Here they are, with the first egg on the left, third egg on the right.

Lisa, I agree with your gender determination on your polish. That delaware is going to be very, very pretty.

Red, I'm going to hope that it isn't your EE laying brown eggs. I am hoping she gives you a lovely blue or green.

I survived the Tough Mudder, though I suspect I will be a mass of bruises and pain tomorrow.

Man i am so jealous. I bought a FBCM chick straight run this spring and it turned out to be a rooster. I was looking forward to chocolate eggs.

Lisa, what do you think? The comb on that splash non NN looks big from the side, but not from the front? Could be the picture. Also, is the comb still looking more pink than the wattles? That's how it was when I took those last pictures here. I'm thinking girl on mine so far..again..the comb isn't getting any bigger..yet. :/

Here are a few pictures of my Swedish babies. Sphinx, I will get a picture of the frizzle tomorrow. I had family over today..fun day. :)

I think I see a hint of blue in the middle of this one's back, and it has a blue spot on the
top of it's head. Yellow/cream color on the sides, neck, and head.

This little black and yellow one has the bandit look with that eye color.

Lisa, your polish are looking nice. I can't believe the top on that one you say is blue..
it's a lot bigger than the one I had. That one still has the mohawk going on.

Have to edit to say..I found one of those empty egg shells today. I was trying to think who in the world is ready to lay? The EE leghorn mix could I guess, leghorns lay early. It was pretty good size, then I remembered Big Bertha! I hope she finds the nest box!
