Utah!

We've started using our broody for hatching. We did one hatch this Fall and we're hoping to do more this Spring. I know that we can buy fertile eggs from Thanksgiving Point, and they've told us that they'll have brown leghorns this coming year, but I was wondering if anyone on here keeps roosters and would be willing to sell some fertile eggs.

We are in north Utah county.

Thanks!

OMG if I ever get to the point where I decide to bathe a chicken, just for giggles, someone please commit me.

Blujems, are they going to put that dog down? It sounds like a total menace, and I think I'd be demanding it.
Animal control doesn't have the authority to take the dog and put it down. But he issued a summons to the owner. Part of the summons require the dog to be tested for rabbies for that they can have the dog put down then sent in for testing. Which is the cheap way. OR have it quarantined for 2-4 weeks then have it tested. This way I have heard it is really expensive. But the dog will be back.I hope they go for the cheap way.
If we're going to commit you for bathing chickens I think most of us will be right there with ya were all a little nuts.

I'd be more than happy to sell you fertile eggs. I have three roosters- a Cream Legbar, a Black Copper Marans, and a Golden Laced Polish (not sure if he's getting a lot of action though). My hens include bcm, cream legbar, glw, rir, coronation sussex, speckled sussex, lav americauna.... However, I am in Davis county. So, we'd have to use chicken train.

Having brought that up, I am most likely going to Springville on black friday to show houses, so I could be a chicken train if anyone is interested.

When are you coming to get my rooster?

In Salt Lake County, they have a three strikes policy on dog aggression, and no tolerance if a dog kills another animal. My husband had a rooster that came with the house when he first moved in. Some neighbors had an aggressive dog that killed the rooster. These dogs were put down as a result of this. They were a menace in general, his kids were afraid to play in the yard because of them and they had attacked him and the kids a few times.

Anyhow, I am so sorry to hear about your goats! That's so heartbreaking. Hopefully the owners will be responsible and do what needs to be done. On a state level, they are responsible for damages caused by their dogs.

so don't commit anyone for giving them a bath only if they get dyed purple. IE don't use bluing on white chickens

My blue splash just went broody. Knew it was coming, she has been acting..and sounding funny lately. Cluck..cluck...cluck...and flapping her wings making funny noises while she flaps.
I need a few eggs for her.

And, if a chicken train is going to happen, remember, I have baby chicks...free! Australopr dad..and a RIR for the chipmunk baby, and yellow baby. Blue Orpington moms..but most of the babies came black..8 black babies, and only 4 other colors. Some of the black have that fluffy face, and green legs.
