Oh Cynthia... I'm soo sorry about your dog, so sad when that happens!! A dog I loved as a kid got hit by a car, but it didn't kill him, just broke his back, so we had to take him in to have him put down, it was so sad... Hugs and prayers for you tonite!

Lisa, how is Bella holding up?? Hopefully it's not her picking?? She was pretty timid here, I wouldn't think it was her..

Nope she is great...she has just blended right in. Funny thing...my White Rock is broody and has been sleeping in a nest in the little coop at the far end. Weird because they all go in the big coop with the light and roosts on the closer end to the house. Anyway I went out after dark to check on her, I reached in and felt two bodies in the nest. i shined my flashlight in there and Bella was in the nest with her. She has slept out there with her every night all week. Keeping her company while staying warm I suppose! During the day she is just roaming around with the others, no drama that I have seen at all. We really really like her! Nobody has picked on her at all either

I am ready to downsize on bantams. I love my Silkies, but I think one going broody is going to be enough, plus, I have that darling little Favorelle that has stolen my heart. So, my Cotton is for sale if anyone is interested. She has been laying like crazy! In fact, she has now laid an egg 4 days in a row. She's a talker. She's a looker. Also, I am going to sell my Birchen cochin. Darling, but I only want to keep two bantams at once. So, my Princess that is broody stays, and my Favorelle. I am pretty sure at this point, that the beautiful, and I mean beautiful, partridge that Diana gave me, is a boy. If you want him back Diana, let me know. Or, if you know someone that can have him. He just keeps getting more and more gorgeous with that dark orange mixed in with the darker colors.
Here is a picture of Cotton..you've all seen her. Going to be thinning more out. I have a lot of chickens out there! That I shouldn't have. It's been fun hatching, watching the ones I want to keep, but I have to make up my mind as to the ones I want to keep. When all three of my blue and green egg layers start, I will be selling one of those. I am thinking the big blue EE. She's gorgeous. I have a blue little pullet that is the 5th generation that I am going to keep, and, the one that came from an olive egg..still trying for that olive egg!
Maybe I can find a picture of the blue EE..I know I just posted one.


My white girl Cotton I think she would do well at the fair showings

Not a very good picture, but she really is pretty, my DH even comments on her. Dark
head and neck, lighter body. She has red going down in her neck feathers too.

Here's the birchen..this was taken a while ago, she is so much fuller now, and is squatting
when I catch her. Yells at me the second that back door opens, she knows I'm the food
person. They are alll so nice. I don't like having to do this, but I really need to get realistic
here. A couple of bantams, and try and keep down to a normal range of LF. I have 11 I am
watching now! I also have a Wesummer that I want to keep, and then there is the lavender
Orpington that I am not keeping. She is getting bigger and doing well. Very pretty. Fully feathered now.

If I thought I could get away with it, and poor frizzle wouldn't be alone, I'd totally buy her.

I'm coming on with the saddest news.  It was just awful.  We lost our Golden Retriever today. He died in front of me. I was playing with one of our smaller dogs, and Toby, was jumping up on the fence like he always does, but I heard a whimper, then a clunk.  I turned around, and he was seizing.  I knew right away, something really wrong had just happened, but what?  I was hysterical.  Went into the house yelling for Scott.  He came out, I had gone out to see Toby again, but he was gasping, so I ran back in..and let Scott check him out.  I poked my head out, and said, he's gone isn't he?   One place, just one place on that stupid fence, and it seems that he caught his collar on it and snapped his neck. He is a heavy dog, so when he jumped back down with the collar stuck on it, it just instantly broke his neck.  I can't believe this happened. I don't know why this happened.  I can't stop crying.  I keep seeing it.  Keep me in your prayers, I'll take them.  He is the one I just posted all of those pictures of him playing in the snow, fetching his ball.  Glad I got those pictures.  We are having him cremated.  He will sit next to our other Golden that we had done.  The boxes are really nice looking.

Oh my goodness! Cynthia, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss! It is so very hard to loose a fur baby. Hugs and prayers.

Whittni! Oh my gosh, that pigeon hat is SO cute! I had to call my mom into the room to show her. Fred is a good boy.

Cynthia, I'm sorry you're having to re-home some of your chickens

That's hard for me. I have that BR pullet I was supposed to give to the neighbor, and I still have to tell him that I can't bear to part with her!

So, my Icelandic boys are really starting to get interested in their manly duties. I keep them in their own carriers in the garage overnight so that they aren't so loud in the morning. One of them is really making me laugh. Whenever I open his door, he's doing everything he can to impress the two pullets I have in the layer suite. Hmmm, ya think he's got girls on the brain? The other boy, however, has started getting more assertive with me. This morning, he was doing what I call the electric slide in his carrier and trying to intimidate me. Sooo, I grabbed him, flipped him on his back like a baby, and gave him a good, mushy cuddling in front of the girls. He didn't like that at all. He settled right down when I put him back in his apartment.

I'm happy everyone likes Fred's hat...I'm thinking about adding tiny chicken hats to my business.

Doing better today though. Will get his remains back in a week, probably by Fri. Maybe I will post the two boxes I have of my doggies if you don't think it too morbid. The box is quite pretty, and the ashes are in a pretty colored bag inside, feels like felt. Grizz's bag is blue, I picked Burgundy for Toby. They are nice.

i would love to see the boxes. my uncle supplies a few places with boxes for cremated remains, he makes them. there is a chance he made the box i know i have sure enjoyed hearing about toby so i am sure sad about your loss will miss you toby
