Utah!

my Seramas came. Funny I was expecting a phone call from the post office but the bell rang and the mail man who is my neighbor delivered them to me. He knew I was home waiting for the call. A tiny black rooster and two chocolate hens they are really pretty the brown color of Hersheys chocolate, I have never seen chickens that color, Can't wait to get some eggs. The birds are around 6 months old. I'll try to get some good pictures of them. On a sad note my showgirl died, Pretty sad.I tried
Where are the pics?

Wow, sorry about the losses. Hope everyone else is doing good.

On a good note, I got 3 eggs today. And look at the brown one. The most beautiful shade of brown with darker spots. Nicest looking egg I have gotten yet.

Oh my goodness, so sorry for the losses! Sphinx, that one is a very different situation for sure. Sorry you had that poor thing die as you were trying to save it. So sad. :(

Sundance, you too, a showgirl. :( Would like to see pictures of your chocolates. I've seen pictures, but never any up close and personal with that color. Bet they are pretty.

blue..I got three eggs today too, and the red/brown ones look a lot like your brown one above, but no spots today.

Here are a couple of pictures I took for the NN thread to share, because of her size..only three months! I thought I caught a couple of really cool shots.

Here's one of my non NN. Lisa, what about yours..boy, or girl? This one looks like a red
sex link. Should lay well. Little barn yard mix.

Cute girls Cynthia! Mine is beet red, has been for a couple weeks, no crow yet. It is HUGE, bigger than most of my girls that have just started laying. Long long legs too. No pointy feathers in the saddle area yet.. (pretty futile but still crossing fingers!!) Yours look much more girly so this might be the comparison I needed to be pretty sure. I am definitely getting more NN though, I love love them. I have a few coming in my march chick shipment :)

I'm just glad she isn't suffering anymore.

Sundance, sorry you lost your showgirl, too. I am glad that your Seramas arrived safely. That will be so much fun for you.

Cynthia, your pullets are so pretty. The non NN does look like a RSL, doesn't she?

I received a very nice surprise today. After I got home from work, I walked into the garage to feed the few chickens I've been keeping in there. Found a beautiful little white egg on the floor of the layer suite. It was either my Icelandic or my Exchequer Leghorn, since they're both in there. I wouldn't be surprised at either of them. The Leghorn has been squatting like a nut for me, but the egg is so small - smaller than what my BO lays. It's about the size I would expect from the Icelandic. Such good girls I have. They cheer me up so much. I'm excited to finally get my white egg. It's not white like the store bought eggs. It's more of the ivory shade of whipping cream.

I have been following for a little while and Love reading and learning from those in my area.
We just hatched new babies last weekend and it looks like both Welsummers are boys :(
Is anyone in Utah hatching Welsummer chicks right now? I would love to get a girlie to grow up with the rest of the gang.
Thanks!

What do you all use to candle your eggs? All i have is a little flash lite. Its bright enough for most eggs but those silkie eggs are really thick. And its pretty much worthless with the green and blue ones.
