Utah!

Sasha--Mottled Houdans, Naked Necks, WCB polish, snowball sold white polish, and 2 GSL and BR (i had to meet the minimum so got some to sell) Erik will get that WCB polish I swear haha! I could not get a girl last year for the life of me. These are all sexed, so crossing fingers it works this season. I got the shots too for good measure. They are supposed to come March 4, then I have hatches due 2/24 (just 4 eggs and they are for blujems), 3/5 FBCM and EE (12 eggs so far), then around 3/11 leghorn /ee and bbs marans, then these wheatens to hatch hopefully around 3/20. Working on a few other fun things to hatch for April. Most of what I am hatching is for other people wanting chicks, but you know I will end up with some

I love Spring! Be sure to let us know what you end up setting....also I have a trip to Idaho coming to pickup pullets from QCU, not sure when they will be ready, but if it works to pick anything up for you I would be glad to.

More baby goats! That will be so fun! Blujems had 7 teeny ones the other night when I went to visit, sooooo cute, I love the way they jump around and play.

I missed your purple posts

Aww, thanks ladies. :)
Wow, Lisa! Lots and lots of new fuzzy butts headed your way this spring! I'm still toying with several breeds...but I just looked at Stromberg's website and they are offering SQ wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs....as well as chicks. I'm going to do an order...anybody want to order with me? I'll do either the eggs or the chicks, whichever you'd like! But I've got to get crackin' because...one of my bantam Amers laid me an egg today!!! LOOK!!!

It's BLUE, Lisa!

Here it is next to Hedwig's egg from Yesterday...

The flash kinda bleaches them out. But you can see how much of a green tint Hedwig's egg has to it. But I'm SO EXCITED!

One more thing...Howard said "Why not do three breeds this year, like originally planned?" He's not helping! Or is he? Ha ha

So I may be ordering more crele bantam Wyandottes after all. Clay really is a gorgeous rooster.

My barred rocks didn't make it. I keep finding that chicken people are just amazing! I am on the Feb. hatch a long. When someone asked how my barred rocks were coming along, and I told them that they didn't make it..someone sent me a pm. Offering to send me some of their blue barred rock eggs, for just the cost of shipping! They are in Florida..but can I pass that up? The pictures of those barred rocks of theirs are amazing. Wow, chicken people are great.

Since it looks like we won't have a coop until around May, just wondering if it will be possible to get some pullets around then? (Am I wrong to assume that it would be a little late to get new chicks then?) I just don't think I want to take on raising chicks in my garage for 3 months...

By the way, enjoy reading everyone's posts--lot of chicken knowledge here!

Depends on if you want eggs this summer. If so get chicks now and tough out raising them in the garage. Its really not to bad. If you don't care about eggs then you will for sure be able to get chicks. Or you can pay Sunny brook to brood them, for you

There will always pullets available with this crazy bunch. Yep, all year long! I think there is more chicks on this thread then Ifa has!

Speaking of chicks and eggs...Corvidae, How is that beautiful flock of BLRW coming along?

I cant wait!

I caught up! (For now)

Cynthia, sorry about your BR's

And

on the blue BR's!!

Sundance, oh my word. I can imagine how much fun you're probably having down in Vegas. That's so cool that you two get to check in as "Lord and Lady"

Enjoy the cat show!

Falcon, if you hang out with this group, you'd be hard-pressed NOT to have chicks available nearly year-round! Depending on the breed(s) you get, summer chicks are awesome because they start laying right in the middle of winter

I highly recommend the Barred Rock breed, based on two different girls I've had. Both started laying in January or February.

Oh fart, now what else was I going to say?.............Senior moment here.

Oh! Lisa, I'm kind of getting the girly vibe off your SG. Too bad she isn't a turkey. I'm wrong half the time with chickens, but danged if I can't at least make a close guess with the turkeys

It's been a long week. Hope everyone had a fun and safe Valentine's day, even if you didn't brave the crazy restaurant crowds. I didn't do much other than work, but I found a late valentine today in the garage. One of the Icelandics left me the cutest danged fart egg. It made me laugh.

I will take any girly vibes i can get on this one. My DH took (her) to his office today, and she sat on top of his cubicle wall all afternoon, very sweet and mellow. So funny! I am worried she will get germs, I am sure his office is more worried about her germs (poop) lol I sent some hand sanitizer and strict instructions not to let people touch her unless they were prepared. I am no fun haha! But they really enjoyed her so that made me happy. Cynthia, I sent some messages to that guy on Ebay with the bearded showgirl/eggs...we are working out a deal for March on a big batch of silkie/sg eggs and 'frizzle NH" eggs! Yay! Thanks for the link, he is a great guy to deal with so far. I hope he knows how to ship!

Very nicely, thanks! There are only 21 in the group right now and I'll be paring that down a bit this weekend (well, probably Monday) when I go up to the land. Assuming none of the have been stolen in the meantime.

I've got 6 Foley line BLRW eggs in the incubator--set them just yesterday, along with a bunch of CCL eggs. I hate shipped eggs in general, but I'm hopeful I'll get at least a couple out of it to keep the genetics boosted. My son freaked a little when he saw how many eggs were in the incubator (something like 4-5 dozen. He thought we were going to be overrun with chickens, but then he found out most of them were shipped eggs and just rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, well, maybe we'll get a couple of them to hatch, anyway." Yep. That's about right.

We got a ghost egg today! Joel came in with an egg, waved it at me, and said, "The Welsummers are laying!" Sure enough, nice dark brown speckled egg, kind of pullet sized, looked exactly like a Welsummer's.

Um. We don't have any Welsummers.

We have Wyandottes, Easter Eggers, Andalusians, Swedish Flower, CCL, Isbar...But no Welsummers.

Go figure.
