Utah!

I am so sorry about all the chickens that passed :( I had one go last night as well. Very unexpected. She was fine the day before and went downhill quickly yesterday. The vet couldn't help her either. I did take her in to get a necropsy and the verdict was that she laid internally. She had been laying oddly shaped eggs. Or very thin shelled eggs. But I was told there was nothing I could have done. Sigh. That was rough. She was the boss hen. Not all that tame but we loved her regardless.

Congratulations everyone on the new hatches and babies. So fun to see them all

Here's another one..my little NN didn't make it. It's been going good for about a week, but then, just started going down hill. I noticed it wasn't growing much. Who knows, things happen that we aren't aware of for sure.

sundance, I have 3 of the Cochin eggs viable and doing well, and 1 on those white ones. None of the Japanese made it. :( I was excited to get one or two. Two started, then quit. They were so tiny. What is that white one again..it's small. Bantam size.

What color are the Cochins? I think you said a possible splash. :)))

All four of my girls have started laying! Including Martha of the large and very red comb and wattles. I was pretty sure they were all laying because I got four eggs yesterday, but then I actually saw Martha lay today so I'm absolutely certain she's a SHE. :D That's the only egg that I know exactly who is laying it.

Congrats on all the layers! I'm so glad Martha is a girl, after all. One of my Wyandottes had me thinking that she was a boy for a while, but she was just a huge, lovely girl.

Guess what? I got new Icelandic eggs today!! They came from one of the people over on the Icelandic thread - coldupnorth. Look at how crazy well she packed them. The box was packed full of shredded paper and them put inside a larger bog with bubble wrap and packing peanuts. Each egg was individually wrapped in bubble wrap, too.

She sent me sixteen beautiful, big fatty eggs. I'm setting them tomorrow night!

So if anyone is thinking of buying eggs from coldupnorth, I'd highly recommend her. These eggs look excellent. Not a single one broken or cracked. With how much care she took in packing them, I'd be shocked if any had been damaged, even though the outer box was munched.

Wow, congrats! Isn't it fun to go get the eggs? Yaay, I got you all girls!! You will have to get a picture of the eggs one day when they all lay on the same day again. Bet they are pretty. :)

You bought shipped eggs! They look nice. A nice size too. Good luck. I'm hatching, so far, not so good. Worried about a lot of quitters during lock down. I should have had pips earlier. Guess I'll see how it goes.

She made me a deal after I lost my first Icelandic chick. It was sooo sweet of her, and I can't thank her enough. Anything I get from this hatch will be a huge help in strengthening my Icee bloodlines.

I hope your eggs work out okay. It's been a bad season for losses, hasn't it?
