Man, it has been WAY too long since I checked in here, and I have no idea what is going on, sheesh!!!

Been busy with work, kiddos, cleaning the yard with the nice weather and hatching... had a frustarting last couple of hatches with my humidity getting too low and shrinkwrapping the chicks, managed to save one SFH... but I was still sad... more in lockdown now for Easter, with 2 sponges, lol! (I was really irritated b/c the hatches before these last 2 were really good, grr!!!

Dilemma--I am having a HECK of a time with some of my McMurray chicks. I ordered females. All. My NN is chest bumping, BOTH GSL's are chest bumping, BOTH my BR are definite males. I kept 12 total chicks and I have today put all the ones together that act like boys (6) , are mean, or look like boysl. The girlie chicks are so calm and sweet and happy. The Potential Boy Brooder is total chaos. I am still guessing on some, but jeez it is looking pretty dismal. And there are two or three that are on my naughty list, even if they somehow turn out female, because they are mean mean little things. All my ornamentals look girlie still and are very sweet, crossing fingers. And I am hatching GSL's from birdguy, so I should get some of those, but I am really bummed about the NN, i have wanted one forever. It is mean, it pulled another one down today and chewed the side of its head off. Brats. So I have a few meanies to get rid of I suppose, it makes me sad it is turning out this way, I had the exact breeds I really wanted this year

Phoenix, holler if you want any more roosters for dinner. Two weeks, if this keeps up, they are out of here. You get first dibs, if you don't want them I am having my neighbor take them.

I think I will pass this time Between the last batch and all the eggs the boss has going we have enough. Thank you for think of of.

Oh, shoot. I forgot what else I was going to respond to. Been working crazy hours...we have our big annual inventory count before our big audit, so guess what I've been doing for the last 2 days...and for the next 2 weeks? Counting and scanning, scanning and counting. Oofda!

I'm having the darndest time trying to sell the D'uccle and Cochin chicks. What the heck? It's Easter this weekend, you'd think people would be looking for cute chicks. I didn't have an ounce of trouble last year. Hmpf.

I candeled my latest eggs in the bator tonight...out of 30 bantam Crele Wyandotte eggs, only 4, count 'em, FOUR, are fertile. GAH!!!

All four had BETTER hatch, and all four had better be girls!!! (I already have Clay, my crele roo, from the first attempt.)

I also had to toss exactly half of the 15 Mille Fleur bantam Cochin eggs I set the same day. From the same breeder as my last batch of cochins, but this time I got only MF and Mottled. All of the mottled are developing, only 1 of the MF is developing, and the blue mille Fleur are doing nicely as well. Something's up with the MF of hers. None of the eggs from that pen were fertile last time either. I'll be looking for another source, I guess.

I could carry eggs back with me from Wisconsin later this month! My youngest (15) daughter and I are flying out to Wisconsin for the Midwest Horse Fair. It's a huge deal, and my mom and I used to go every year. Guess I'll go pay a visit to the Wisconsin BYC forum.

Do you need a MF bantam cochin hen to go with your boy? I have three. I only really need two, so I could let one go if you can't get one out of your hatching eggs. I also have a calico roo that needs a home. I can't remember who I held him for......anyway, he's still here. He's a sweet boy.

Oh, and of course you can have a rooster. I have two of three ameracauna boys. Nice of them to be obvious about their feathers and all, but...

I want a frizzled rooster out of my blue eggs.

Sad story. I sent my frizzled Americana Rooster to Oklahoma to get him decrowed. My friends mom was here visiting and the vet that does the decrows just happens to be her vet. he was being decrowed and then mailed back to me on Monday. Unfortunately he did not survive. The surgery went fine but he did not wake up from anasethesia. They did cpr and oxygen as well as giving him drugs to make him breath. They just could not wake him up. Vet called me and felt so bad. He said he hasn't lost a chicken in over a year. Just goes to show how dangerous surgery is.

Sad story.  I sent my frizzled Americana Rooster to Oklahoma to get him decrowed.  My friends mom was here visiting and the vet that does the decrows just happens to be her vet.   he was being decrowed and then mailed back to me on Monday.  Unfortunately he did not survive.  The surgery went fine but he did not wake up from anasethesia.  They did cpr and oxygen as well as giving him drugs to make him breath.  They just could not wake him up.  Vet called me and felt so bad.  He said he hasn't lost a chicken in over a year.  Just goes to show how dangerous surgery is.

(I was trying to say that I have plenty of boys so will be happy to give one to you should one of the chicks be a boy and also trying to imply that my luck seems to put the boys in my brooder ). I will post some pics of them later today when I get home. Two black chicks (I got to watch the other hatch last night) and a penguin one. So cute! The big egg was questionable when it went to lockdown and still isn't showing signs of hatching. I am getting the chicks out and into their brooder when I head home in a bit here. Thank-you again for the eggs. Nice to know that I can actually get some eggs to hatch. A huge relief.
