Updated pic time! Just a few...

This is the "girl" SBEL My paranoia has me believing they are both boys

This is the "boy" SBEL. Definitely fewer feathers, slightly larger comb, but smaller frame and legs

This is one of the frizzled EE chicks from Sundance's eggs. I believe this one is a girl, and definitely frizzled! She reminds me of a swan. No beard and muffs on her.

Here are the other two. One of them I thought was a boy, I believe the lower one, but the lack of butt feathers makes me think they might both be boys. One of them has a white spot under "her" chin, but you can't see it in either pic here.

Lil--They cannot both be boys lol that would be bad. It is kind of happening here too...I thought I gave you one of each, and kept two of each, but my four are all changing in different ways, the two groups are not so different anymore, it is looking more like 3 boys and 1 girl here, and the girlie one is one that was in the boy group. Goodness they like to tease. Grrrrr I guess no more guessing by wing feathers on those. It did not work so much on mine here. :/ Hope yours still stay one of each!

Hi all! I have birchen marans hatching!!! Two so far with five more pipped! I am concerned about one of the two, it is dragging something behind it, looks kind of like an umbilical cord?

Happens sometimes. I've had the little tykes drap half their egg attached by that cord for hours. Very occasionally, I've had to go in and detach it, but it usually doesn't do any harm and will come off on its own as they really start to dry out. As long as the umbilical area on the belly is closed, it's okay.

Thought I would share a few cute pics of my EE and OE chicks

I just love all those fluffy cheeks

Sundance, that just gave me an idea---A lot of breeders cross showgirls back to silkies to get better bowties, and that makes half the chicks silkies and half showgirls...so if you cross a sizzle with a showgirl I bet there would be a chance of having a frizzled sizzle showgirl? How cool would that be. Pretty cool, that is the answer lol!

Be sure to post pics, I bet those chicks are crazy cute.

Do you have any pictures of your hens or roos at a young age? I would love to see pictures so I can compare mine to get an idea of gender...
I have some somewhere of the 3 BCM that I hatched in Jan. they all ended up being roosters. So I don't have any that ended up being hens. I will try to find the pics.
