I have Midget White Turkey eggs. I'm done hatching them for the year except for a broody who I gave some eggs to today.

Are white midgets like the white broad breasted turkeys? Can they reproduce on their own or have to be artificially inseminated? We had white broad breasteds before when we first got into poultry and then we wanted to breed them, but we couldn't because the males physically can't inseminate the females cause theyre too big haha

Midget whites are the only "bantam" turkey breed. They mate naturally and are known for going broody. I have THREE broody turkey hens right now.

Those were "bantams"? Sheesh they looked huge... that bad boy was a little intimidating all puffed up :) He looked bigger than any turkey I have ever had in my oven! lol! How much would a "cooking turkey" weigh from that breed?

The toms top out at around 13 pounds compared to 20lbs +++ for other breeds. They make themselves look bigger by puffing out their feathers when they strut around.

Sorry, my dads a cheapo :( He doesn't want any. I don't think he realizes how valuable turkeys are. thanks anyways.

My chickens laid eight eggs over the last three days... Wow. owo I love my Brahmas.

Not happy about the weather... Hopefully it'll get nice again soon. Darn snow.

I've decided to sell my Leghorn. One more Brahma I can keep later on. Still having trouble with Hashtag and my Naked Neck, but Mimzy and Zebra have started to come around.

Noticed a post about a recently bought Delaware from IFA. Sounds like I may not be the only one who got an overly-enthusiastic, people-obsessed Delaware lol. My little Julia is all set. XD

Feel sorry for not being online in awhile, my babies have kept me busy.

I have Poultry Judging soon, going to Logan with Granite Mountain FFA. That's kept me busy too. Practice, practice, practice! XP

You would have loved my BBW tom, then, Standing up with his neck stretched up for food, he could just about reach chest level on me. And I'm 5'5"! He is currently camping out at my BF's house and keeping him company. Freezer camp has been somewhat delayed for him.

5.00 an egg but I always give plenty of extras this time of year...........until I run out of hens that aren't broody. LOL

I am going to keep this in mind

Turkeys are more expensive than chickens, but they really are a lot of fun to raise. Not to mention beautiful, and they make tasty eggs

I had a Delaware pullet last year. Loved her so much, still miss her. I am happier than I thought I'd be to have another. Good luck with the judging!
