Utah!

I was thinking about buying the Cackle Hatchery Surprise box... I know that I do not need 30 extra chickens. Do you think I would have a problem selling the extras in the Layton area? I don't have any experience selling poultry on KSL.

I was thinking about selling them for $2 each? What do you all think?

Dan

That is a steal. Really they cost you more than that with shipping and tax and shots--you could easily list them for a little more. Esp if they are sexed. For hatchery quality chicks I would think you could get 3 or 3.50 for sexed females...for $2 I can't imagine you would have a problem selling them fast.

They will be a straight run, and I do not want to be stuck with a bunch of chickens!

Usually there are ducks or turkeys included, so if i can sell most of the chicks for $2-$3 and break even, it will be a win. Free chickens, turkeys, and ducks!

Maybe you all could help me identify them if I post some pictures?

Thanks a bunch!

Guess there was an earth quake down this way. Every one is talking about it. I have a few kids living in the Payson/Santaquin area. They all felt it. It was at midnight, one of the girls was awake, and posted on fb..did anyone just feel that? Two girls were in bed, but it woke them up. Folks felt it from that area clear into Provo and it was only a 2.8. Guess it was hard enough, woke people up with the rattle noises going on in the homes. I was asleep.

Oh, I have 14 babies! Maybe, a couple more. Will see. Anyone want some Australorp? I know, not a fancy chicken to most, but I think they are pretty. And, they have the sweetest eyes. And, they lay like no other. :))

Check out this packaging. My Delaware eggs.

There is a monster egg in there. Hope it hatches like my last big one.

Cackle Surprise Hatchery Box? Say what? LOL...

Oh Cynthia... I am so jealous!!!! Husband is now buying me a cabinet incubator... then I'll be sharing my pics soon too!! Can't wait... so many exciting eggs/breeds out there.

After reading the posts on this thread and site, I realize just how much I DON"T know about breeds and standards.

Love the pics!!

Congrats on the bator Spring! Wow, a cabinet. You are lucky you have a lot of land..although, I think if I did, I'd be in more trouble than I already am!

I have babies!! Lisa, you know I am loving those blues..I sure hope you get a couple of girls out of them. A real pretty blue too.

The NN is easy to spot. The serama is going on two weeks old..see her?

One of my favs. :)

She is big and fluffy..too bad the fluff doesn't stay. I think these are going to be easy to
sex. The wing tips are already so different.

Another cutie. I love their eyes.

The Serama, that I hatched from sundance's eggs..on the left, and the new baby on the
right. The Serama has been promised to a gal that comes on once in a while here, that
is from Vegas. She will still be small by the time she can get to St. George area to
pick her up.

Ugh, just found one of the meat roos drowned in the water dish.....Seriously what is with these things....I am wondering if it is worth the food they are going through. Even my big boys, the FBCM roosters don't seem to have any meat and they are new years babies. No one has made a mess like these roosters. The big ones are not a whole lot better than the small.

I am all for raising your own meat, but I have never had any that acted like this before.

sorry for the rant...They are frustrating me like no other.

I'm in Sugarhouse, close to down town Salt Lake City. It's great the county changed the chicken ordinance. So many of us want the convenience of the city with the pleasures of the country. Our neighbors are looking forward to fresh eggs and are very helpful with the chicks. One neighbor girl brings slugs from her mom's garden to feed to the chicks. Watching them run and sun in the back garden is non-stop entertainment.
