Utah!

Ace. This little hen has lots of blue under her wings so don't panic yet

Here is my dirty boys.

After seeing this pic I am certain mine are girls. They both have the same coloration as your girl!

Lisa...my houdan....I'm leaning 80% girl for mine. Her hairdo is quite rounded as are the tips of the feathers. No red color or comb coming in yet. She has even stopped chest bumping with the Wheatens.

Ace, Black on the wingtips is normal, then you have a "wheaten" rather than "blue wheaten". They will get black wingtips and on the tips of the tail. My Wheatens are much darker gold than my blue wheatens also. I would not worry too much, I really think yours is a wheaten pullet. If it was a wheaten male you would see black splotches coming in all over the body, they get dark really early--I was at pawtraitarts the other night and she had a wheaten male there about the same size as yours and its body was mostly black...and last summer I hatched a bunch of these and the boys bodies turned mostly blue or black by 6 ish weeks, I had one this spring that I took to Blujems, we thought it was a boy for sure...it was looking to have a lot of blue down, but it was still a girl after all. It really is more about the blue or black showing up on the torso :) Definitely not how light or dark the gold is.

Yay for females! That is good to hear. So far McMurray really did do an outstanding job on sexing the babies...only 1 boy that I know of out of 32 pullets. My golden sex links that had me wondering if they were freaks of nature and turned out boys are really girls after all. So much chest bumping I was worried lol I have never seen females act like that. They are just going to be a little aggressive so i have to keep an eye on them, and a squirt bottle handy....hoping they settle down as they mature. Putting them in with the big hens this week has knocked them down a notch or two for sure.

I will be in Layton Saturday if anyone needs a chicken train between Logan and Clearfield/Layton.

I think I will sell the Barnevelder chick and the Wheaten Marans chick from my hatch yesterday--I really do not want any more brown egg layers. They are from show quality parents, is anyone interested? Pm me if you are. The wheaten marans chick came from a really big egg. Not crazy dark, but nicely dark. The Barnevelder came from a rusty brown egg, that was L size. Good chance the Barnevelder will be double laced.

Will try to reply to both of them at once. X3 I am very interested in buying a few Silkie chicks from some of you! ^^ It would save me the need to buy a Silkie hen and hatch my own. Genes aren't a problem, even if I did eventually use her for breeding, it wouldn't really be for show. I would be more interested in raising a pet Silkie. Though I would only end up keeping one, one pullet. All silkies are fine on that thought, what I would really be concerned about is personality. Friendly chicks. That's the main reason I keep them~

Showgirls are tempting, really, but I have a Naked Neck, I'm not sure if my family would approve of another... LOL. Definitely like the idea though. What colors might we be looking at? :3

I've decided that I'm looking for a Splash Silkie rooster used for breeding. One I can use as soon as possible. Later down the road, will need to purchase another to breed the offspring again... My goal was to get a 75% Silkie 25% Brahma.

Also... My name? I use it pretty much everywhere. xD It might be difficult to understand, but Pancake is a meerkat character of mine... and Shiners is the name of her group. :3 Pancake is my chosen nickname, but I don't mind being called by my real name either, Cassandra.

Kambrie, $6 each for either the WM or BV

Pancake, the SG babies will not be for sale but any silkies that may hatch will be. White, paint, partridge blue and black, I asked for as many that would throw white or paint babies as possible. Definitely get what you want from Gary first though, as the eggs I have are not sure to hatch silkies, just a chance :)

I was thinking about buying the Cackle Hatchery Surprise box... I know that I do not need 30 extra chickens. Do you think I would have a problem selling the extras in the Layton area? I don't have any experience selling poultry on KSL.

I was thinking about selling them for $2 each? What do you all think?

Dan
