Utah!

Well, another late day for me. Cuddled more with my Brahmas, including my roo. Love him to death. <3

Ruby is still nervous, but doing better. Gave her Lilifey for company. Lilifey acts like Ruby doesn't exist. XD Silly girl, in her own little world.

I love this EE. He's bigger possibly than Zaphod. But so pretty and friendly. He hangs around Wheeler's coop a lot, I think he wants some hens. But, I can't consider breeding him yet. My eggs. All infertile. Getting discouraged...

I kept hoping that one of these guys was a gal but unfortunately, they are boys. Sorry on pic quality here :/ iPhone pics.

Oh man, these mama pictures are killing me. I want a broody...just one though. :) Spinx, great shot with the one poking it's head out..sooo cute!

So, a little update. I had 9 Brahma eggs at home. Cracked open 3. 2 were fertilized, one I couldn't tell, trying to turn it over broke it. The remaining 6... Should I try to incubate them and any other eggs I get before Monday? The only way I can candle them is by using a flashlight, I had a hard time telling without cracking them open. You experienced breeders, I would very much appreciate some advice. Once I figure this out, I can get serious. Thanks.

I have three at the moment that are making me crazy! I do NOT want a broody, and it seems like I always have one :( These three are making the whole rest of the flock stop laying, and they were laying so good before. I think it all started when I put the new pullets out there, they are small enough it is giving my hens big ideas on being momma's!

Anyone else having probs with the chickens laying this past week? We went from starting to get a decent amount of eggs to practically nothing about 4 days ago. My 3 Cream Legbars have laid a whopping ONE egg total in five days. No one is nesting or trying to sit on the fake eggs. Not a broody in the bunch, as far as I can tell. They just aren't laying all the sudden. Out of 10 table layers I have, I'm only getting maybe 2 eggs per day. I was getting 5-6 for a while there.

I tried to have a stern talk with them--something along the lines of "Give me eggs or I'll be eating meat!" But they just fluffled their feathers at me and walked off. Rude. I'm starting to think the chickens know something I don't.
