The chicken train is when we post that we are driving one direction on here....and a chicken hitches a ride to someone's house to save a trip :)

Speaking of chicken trains...
Sphinx I gave your number to Joybells she was thinking there was a way to come to Ogden tonight if you could drive her chicks that far after you come to my place tonight...was not sure if the timing would work so you guys can chat and see.....I also have the two for Christina so she may check with you....not sure if she could get to you tonight though.

I lost my prettiest Houdan girl last night. She got picked on a week or so ago, when Christina came to visit we noticed she was hiding her head and had been picked on, so I separated her and she healed up fine, went back in the run yesterday and it happened again. She just sits there, she won't run away at all from the big girls...but she got chewed up by her tail again, I put her back in her little spot with the Polish separated and she just laid there all night and was gone this morning. Like she gave up. Dang! She was short and fat, really cute, big crest--wanted to use her with the rooster I kept. The other Houdan female is more long necked and small crested. I absolutely love this breed, they are so sweet, but they really do get picked on a lot. Might have to make a separate area for them if I decide to keep a little flock of them. Hindsight ***sigh*** I feel bad I put her back in, I should have waited dang it! The GSL that was caught picking on her is on my ***list right now, for sure!
thanks for letting me know what the chicken train was. I kind of assumed that's what it meant but I wasn't too sure.

I live in american fork. I would be interested in anything you have really.

I am in Spanish Fork..not far at all! I have a a couple of Delaware babies that just hatched a couple of days ago..and I just put a little RIR in my brooder. I have a lot more RIR eggs in..sent to me free because it was a bad hatch, so I can let my little one go that hatched yesterday..just needs to start eating. I have more Delaware eggs coming because I had a bad hatch. Those darn air sacs are killing me this year...but on the other hand, the folks are being great at sending more eggs..and I don't even ask! The RIR eggs that I got are looking great this time, so I will have plenty hatch..pretty sure from the looks of it. And, I will have more Delaware chicks..I have one that hatched from the other batch that looks to be a girl. So, I am set to wait on babies right now. I do want more RIR's, these that will hatch will start laying in late fall, that's great..so will the Delaware's that are coming. I am only asking 4 dollars each for them. Remember, not sure of the sex of the new ones, although, one of the Delawares is looking really girly to me already. The RIR I can't tell yet..too early. They are great egg layers if it's a girl though.
I have some really fun babies on the way. Just some barn year mixed babies, but, there are supposed to be some NN's in there. Some with fuzzy feet, so cochin in them. Some EE's. I have two really pretty blue eggs. If they are girls, I want to keep one. The small eggs of course will be bantam, and the other eggs are a wonderful large size! You will have to come and see when they hatch. I should have a pretty good hatch with those seeing as how they only went for a car ride and not an airplane ride. :) They will hatch this Fri. and Sat. Some are under my broody. Will have to keep a couple under her.

ya I would love to come see what you have.

I *think* I got a call from Joybells' dad, arranging chicken train. I know I'm picking up something from Lisa tonight, and am meeting him in Taylorsville on Thursday evening. Does this ring a bell? I got realizing I didn't know her real name, so I didn't dare start asking about user names. ROFL

I'd be happy to drive anything else down here from Logan, so definitely text, PM me or whatever. :)

Lisa, I'm so sorry about your Houdan.

brian, do you want to get the older hens? You could come today. My two RIR that are at point of lay were just in the coop again. They should be laying for me any time now. I forgot to mention, I do have a NN .. white, that is about 6 weeks old that I can let go too. White with black in the feathering.
Tell me a good time. We are here.

Do you have other girls? I am wondering if I want to keep mine. I know, haven't had her long, but I am just not sure about this top hat breed..polish or Houdan. She is getting that funny top now. Straight up. She gets along with all the babies I have her in with. I am going to watch her another week and decide. She is looking good for a Houdan I guess.? :D

I have one other girl from Diana. She is very sweet too, but more long necked and small crested. A month older than my boy. I think I will just order a batch again next spring and pick out one like what I am looking for breeding....this pair I have is great for "pets" though, very cute little couple. I better not add any more this year, still I have a few more to sell before I am back down to where I want to be, until the new coop is up for the ornamentals. Thanks for checking with me though! It did cross my mind this morning that you and Lil might have some for sale...I just don't want anymore to get picked on before I get their new coop ready, once they are separated it will be lots better :) So far these other two Houdans are getting along with the others...so far. I might even make them their own little coop/run area if I decide to get more next Spring, so far I like them alot. I am going to sell a couple Polish I think just because they are so dang loud, and Frisco has started biting my son, hard, seems to be getting crabbier as she gets older. Anybody want a white crested blue polish hen that bites? Haha :) She is a great layer!

I don't want to hurt my little Houdan's feelings but they seem like the dumbest breed on the plant. When the two Wheatens go up to the roost at night my Houdan cries at the bottom of the ramp.I'm not introducing my little ones to the flock for another few months and hopefully they can defend themselves by then.
