Someone is feeding chicks to a snake?! That makes me sick to my stomach. I'm hoping hoping hoping that Marty's babies didn't go to that guy! I would have taken them if I'd have thought someone would be that cruel.
I hope your tests come out ok! I'm not even sure what kind of scan that is, or what it's looking for. Were you having a migraine? I get those occasionally - they always start out with visual disturbances, sensitivity to light and smells, and I get really, really dizzy/nauseated.
Our garden is surrounded by chain link, with chicken wire dug down into the ground - to keep any burrowing critters out. We have a big un-finished subdivision development behind us, so we've got a lot of little critters in the neighborhood. So far the worst damage has been from the little birds that keep eating my pea plants. I can't put netting over the entire space (it's about 30 x 50 ft), so I've got it over just a few of the raised beds (peas, and the strawberries). Doesn't seem to be helping much.
Bird-man - our current bushes are actually set between the fruit trees - we have four fruit trees in a row, with our 2 currant bushes between them. I think I'll go get a couple more currant bushes! I'd never heard they help each other out - it is help in pollinating? They've all bee blossoming this week and are so pretty. What kind of raspberries do you have? Ours are Canby, but I'm not too impressed with them. We had Canby's when I was growing up in N. Idaho and they were fabulous - enormous, juicy berries. These really don't make very good berries, in my opinion - they're smaller, not as flavorful. I have a friend here that grows "Heritage" and says they're wonderful - they bear on first year canes, so she mows them entire hedge down every year (no thinning!). The caveat is they have enormous thorns.
i cant remember for sure but i think they make each others soil better. we have a mix of raspberries and i know some of them are heritage and i cant say anything bad about them. we love them a lot. i got them from a guy who lives close to thanksgiving point and the guy knows his stuff and he has a huge patch of berries and sells them on ksl a lot. he experimented with a ton of different kinds and found the ones he likes and had them shipped in. hey elkmtn good luck with your heart! heart problems are not fun at all
