Utah!

Cute leghorns, Cynthia. I still think they're one of the more boring breeds. LOL They are egg laying machines and don't eat a lot of feed, so they're a great hen to have around.

I have some sad news :( 2 of my new, babies drowned in the duck pond. They are so little they snuck through the divider. The little red colored one and the little blue are the survivors.
Cynthia, I might NEED a leghorn. I don't have any white egg layers in my young bunch..... Do you think I could sneak it under my momma hen? She has had the others for a few days now.

If it is done quickly, they are only a few days old. Is she a good mama? Can't make any promises..some moms will, some won't. :/

ace.. I have some leghorns that just hatched. I have five of these little cuties. I love love the leghorn, always have to have one or two in my flock. I have mine picked out, now need to sell the rest. If anyone is interested in taking them all, you know you on here get a deal.even if it's only one. :D

Didn't take a lot of pictures..they all look alike..lol...

Agreed, Leghorns are a must have :) My mom will only eat white eggs from our backyard hens! haha! I guess they are "less weird" than the others. haha! We have a Leghorn cross that will work for now. I was looking for a four month pullet... although if I had more chicks around, I would totally take another one!

Thanks for the offer though! :)

Thank you all! It means so very much to me. I'm mot going anywhere but will need my chicken fix so if any of you on the forum needs help with anything I'd be more then happy to help out. You all have made my day so much better. Hugs to you all!

:D     I know you are!   ....  Better off without him.

Hey, I haven't seen anyone take Brian up for a vacation time relief...there should have been a line by now..lol...   Or, waiting list.   :)

We could pick a day and all of us haul our chicken crap over there on "clean the coop" day. The front porch seems like a good place. :D

"woops! Weren't you the guy that ordered fertilizer?"

I so despise cheaters. :/

Wow, disappear for a few days... Brian I am so sorry about your fiancé! :hugs If you really are interested in chicken sitting, I need someone the 25-28 of this month. Not sure if you are at all close to SLC? I just found out today that I get to go.

Chicken poop party? Count me in! I have two deep litter coops that are ready for their quarterly cleaning in slightly over crowded pens (three extra in one, one in another and um...a lot in the other but they're babies!)

Heading out of town tomorrow evening to the regional burn. My stepdaughter is going to care for kids, chickens, and garden (I hope!) this is the first time I have really left my babies!

Just re-homed another Rooster. That has made 7 so far this year, and I'm sure I have a Roo or 2 in the Silkie Bunch, really questioning one of the neighbors RIR's and one of my BRLW (NO). I also think that my little Silkie mix might be a Roo too, someone out there was making that sickly Crow this morning, and it was in the direction of the Silkie Mix, and no one was out in side yard yet, just her/him??? But I could be wrong, hopefully it was the one that is going to a new home right now.

Now if my poor neighbors could get their coop finished, I'm really starting to wonder if they are not going to make it. I feel awful for them. They started their coop, and its going to be awesome if they ever get it done, but her husband's sister just passed away a few weeks ago of cancer, and they just got home, to find out that her Husband has skin cancer and all the scan results say it already spread into his lumph nodes. So very Sad!

She did say if I need to re-home their 8 chicks, I'm free to, since I've had them now for about 3 weeks, and they will just get some when their coop is finished, but I feel awful, I told her they can stay here unless someone complains, since I'm over my 15 chicken limit. I know her husband, bless his heart was out there for a few working on the coop yesterday. So maybe they will get it done, If not I will have some babies well older babies available soon.

That is so sad about your neighbors Karen! What a bunch of bad luck all together. I hope he can get treatment and beat it. Chickens would definitely give him something to focus on and help him feel better while trying to heal..chickens have a way about them that make me feel good every minute I spend with them :)

I know, she said she really wants them more so to watch, and hold as a stress reliever to begin with, and now they really are going to need it. I will feel really bad if they don't get their coop done, but she said yesterday that they are going to start him on a really aggressive treatment, and he's going to get really sick from it. So I don't know how much he's going to get done once he starts treatment. I know she is really sad about her babies. She does come over and visit them at least twice a day, she wants them to know her too. Well just have to see what happens. I might have to make a temp run on the side of the house, the only person I know that might complain is the neighbor behind me. The other one has chickens, so I don't think they will care all that much. But I do have to say now since they are older, I'm really going through the food, and they do get tons of free range. Oh well.

Oh my goodness silly, that is so sad. Our lives can change in an instant. That poor woman must be so frightened for her husband. If the husband was working on the coop, maybe there is someone around that can help him? Get a bunch of neighbors together. ?
