I got the medicine from Wendy today. Sadly I wasn't able to mix it up for them today. Been running all day, they seemed no worse of today than yesterday so hopefully they'll make it till tomorrow. I'm going to treat the whole flock, I think that would be best at this point . Then just focus on the ones that have symptoms.

In other news I'm applying for yet another job. Pray I get this one. *Sigh*

Lilwanis, I can't believe a neighbor called animal control without even talking to you. How come they can't free range either? PM me and we'll look for some good property for you. Lisa brings up a good point though- often times, if you're over a certain size, you do get animal rights grandfathered in somtimes. There's a lady in my neighborhood who has just over a half acre. By current rules, she can't have cows, but because she's ALWAYS kept a cow on the property, she's grandfathered in. So maybe it'll work that way for you?

Pancake, what if you were to make a sign for the farm, explaining what a broody hen is, what she'll look like, etc so that way, they understand she isn't sick?

Silly, how do you know your silkies are boys?

Lisa, have your crazy neighbors complained about your roosters yet?

Sphinx--no one has said much. The crazy ones just don't talk to us much anymore I know they are unhappy about it...but I have been putting the boys in kennels in the garage at night and taking them out at 9 in the morning, so hopefully no one will be too bothered by them. The little one is getting pretty noisy though :/ ! Crossing fingers. We do have animal rights and the right to keep them....not sure about 2....but I really don't want anybody losing rest or bothered by them. We have some seriously noisy goats two doors down, nobody has complained about those or the donkey that hee-haws at dinner time so I am hoping the noise will blend in enough it won't bother anybody People on our street have tons of dogs more than anything, one guy has 8 now, most have at least two or three so its not like it is super quiet and serene around here lol!

Oh and more than that, this is protected bird land out here, so there are pelicans and herons and some really loud waterfowl. I am hoping the roosters blend in (a little ) haha

Sphinx, I'm sure that the 2 are Roosters. 1st off they have had bumps on their combs since about 3 1/2 weeks, and now they are huge, the 2 girls are still completely flat, no bumps at all, and still extremely small on the width, as the boys are double the width. 2nd, the 2 have squared off with each other since about 4 weeks old, and they are always fighting with each other. They were raised with the Buttercup Rooster, and they would fight with him all the time, and once they were let out, they would pick on the Delaware Roo, he was such a wimp. And lastly, they are nearly double or more the size of the girls. I would say there is almost a 2 lb difference and the girls are 1/2 the size of the 2 boys. So according to the Silkie Thread they are boys because the feathers off the back of the head, both boys, have very long ones coming in and flowing over the head onto the shoulders, and both have deep copper feathers coming in, but this was from the Silkie Thread.

The Blue Splash's comb today, I looked at it, and its like doubled in size. He's going to have a huge one up there. Both are still black. My Silkies are bearded, so there is no wattles, so I was told.

Brian has always wanted my Blue Splash, so even if it was a girl, I probably would have still given her to him, since I'm only keeping 2. But I'm sure he is a boy even more so over the other one. I love the other one so much I might just try and keeping him. We do have a 100% sound proof recording studio in my house, that I might just have to bring the roo, and his 2 Silkie girls in at night, and but him in there if he gets noisy, because I don't want him by himself. My husband said to put the baby coop in the garage with him in it at night he if starts, since I love him so much. So I might just have to do that. The baby coop is 3 ft x 4 ft that I was actually thinking of making it the Silkie coop after its out of the grow out pen with the babies.

Glad he's okay with saying to put him in the garage, because I'm going to remind him that when its like -15 outside at night, like last winter, it was horrible, we had several days with frozen water pipes with no water in the house. The whole block was this way. So when it gets that cold, I'm going to bring them all in the garage with the garage heater on! I should get the plywood now to make a quick box coop with a chicken wire top for the garage. hehehe!

I'm really happy right now. Now I can start a new fresh start. Have no choice since that fox got all my chickens today

I'm afloat with babies..... Welsummers, Barred Hollands and Black Australorps. Just saying...... Some were hatched 6/14 so they are older. When you're ready and if you want some let me know. Sadly, the Salmon Faverolle pullet that you wanted had a watering accident. I've decided to keep the cockerel and just bought a young Sal Fav hen so will have babies in the spring if you still want Salmon Favs, (they suddenly got real popular after I decided to keep them, and have had several people contacting me to purchase if I have them available...eh

).

Hi all, Im new at this forum thing... I am close to finishing my coop and almost ready for chickens. Not just any old chicken, but I'd like fun or fancy breeds. Any suggestions?

Doodle-- I have some fun ones hatching in a week and a half....the Mom is a Naked Neck Turken and the daddy is a Paint showgirl rooster. Search those on here... both pretty unique, the babies ought to be pretty interesting!
