Utah!

Oh Christina I'm so sorry that your having issues, but if she has a zoning issue with her dance studio, that isn't your fault at all. Its her fault for not looking into it, and getting her license do hold it as a business. If your neighbor are complaining about all the traffic how is that on you. Maybe she won't be able to get Zoning, and she will be out of your hair soon.. But I agree you should put signs up, because thats all you need is one of them getting bit or kicked by a horse. Hopefully it will get better soon.

The chick are all starting to get their feathers. Just took some more photos of the bunch. They are so dang cute.

Lil- I don't think I'm going to keep my Black one, its probably a Black Cochin, not sure.

What is this one? I have 3 of them, and none are feathering out yet. Feathered legs

Are these one's Partridge Cochins? Lil I have 4 of these ones too,

Think this is my Frizzle?

What is this Black one with the tan face mask? I love this chick's colors but what is it? Clean Legs

That black one with the orange face looks like a Golden Laced Wyandotte. With amazingly good lacing.

The light one with feathered feet looks almost like a lavender? Cochin maybe? maybe a light blue cochin? I really am not sure on that, or the rest...but the last one really looks like a GLW.

Seriously in a Bantam. So excited now, its has been my favorite since I got them, when I called Brian to tell him the chicks are here, I told him I had one that looks like a tri colored dog, like a Domerman or something. hahaha! I told him that one is mine.

WOOOOOTTT! Out of the 15 pullets left to start laying, I have 9 potential blue layers. I am ridiculously hopeful to get one or two blue layers out of all of those....this afternoon, I just went out and found a very small blue egg! YAY! :yesss:

It is very pale blue, but definitely not green, so I am super excited! It should be an SBEL that did it. Will have to start spying to find out. I have a few EE's, 4 SBEL's and the frizzle, but I think the SBELs are the oldest by a few weeks.

Free Belgian D'Anvers Blue and Blacks + Old English Red Pyles

Hi guys, LONG time! My bookmark was page 600...
lol.png

I need the space and will give these chickens away to THIS board only (I just don't want them being eaten or used for bait/training/etc). Here's what I have (and the hen odds were not with me!). Oh, they are all this spring's chicks so should be laying soon. Raised all natural, no meds/vaccines, very healthy.

3 Black D'anver (aka Quail Antwerps) Roos...no hens.
sad.png

1 Blue D'anver Roo " "
3 Old English Red Pyles (2 Roos, 1 Hen)

IF you take all of them (and again, pls no cruel ending) I will give you a sweet pair of Blue D'anvers (Hen & Roo) that I was planning on keeping but will give them up if the rest can have a good home.

also have 1 Delaware roo (I think Delaware, he has a tad more coloring than others I've had in the past). Big guy, not mean, hasn't crowed but I'm certain roo. Would prefer he not be eaten as he's not mean...just don't tell me. I couldn't bring myself to "process" him when I did our meaties. Same age as banties.

In the past I would let them free range and let nature take its course but I have 3 hawks that have set up camp here so my poor girls haven't had any summer free ranging this year. SUCH a bummer! I could live with 1 or 2 losses but with these hawks they'd all be gone in a heartbeat.

I'm rarely on the computer so please email me at elkmtncover AT G mail dot com. That goes to my phone and that's the best way to reach me. I will try to jump back on to read posts.

I'll have to place an ad soon on KSL if no interest but want to offer to BYC'ers first for free. I don't mind if you rehome/sell the roos you don't need I just don't want them used as bait/etc. I live just outside Park City.

Thanks and hope all your chickens/ducks (and families) have been doing well!

Hi Elk!

Good to see you.

Desert, I'll be honest. I wish I was younger than 18, but only so that I could egg the kids getting into your pens and get away with it
gig.gif
Sounds like the parents are being as big of brats as the kids. Not hard to see where they got it. Hang in there, girly
hugs.gif
One of these days I need to come and visit you. Maybe I can help you with some of your work, too. I ain't much good, but I can cheer lead, at the least!

poorpitifulpear, I'm sorry to hear about your bunny and your chicken. Hugs to you, too. I know how frustrating the hatching thing can be. Hang in there.

Lisa, you got your blue egg! That's wonderful! My SBEL lays a pale blue egg, too. Very light and pretty.

Lil, your text to the wrong number made me laugh aloud.

Well m'dears, I am off to Moab tonight. I'll be back some time Monday, and I'm really looking forward to being in the great outdoors for four days. I have been so stressed by everything, plus so sick from staring at computer screens and small print at work all day, every day, that I'm really looking forward to being away from computers, screens, and cell phone service. I went to bed feeling so sick last night and woke up with what felt like a cluster headache. I'm sure the smoke in the air isn't helping. I really hope we get some rain through here soon! But anyway, everyone be safe and behave (if you can
wink.png
) I'm off to have some much-needed R&R. And possibly some fresh deer or elk meat

I would recommend that she write a letter to her students' parents.

"Dear parents,

Recently, our neighbors have shared some concerns with me. In order for me to be able to continue to teach your children, we need to play nice with the neighbors. Please make sure that you and your children are aware of the following rules or our studio will be forcibly closed.

1. This is a residential road. Neighbors have expressed concern about the increase in traffic due to the dance studio. We have more than tripled the traffic on this road. Many of our neighbors have children and are concerned for the safety of their children. The local PD has informed us that they will be setting up speed traps. Please follow the posted limits on this road.

2. We share a property line with a farm. Please note that farm animals can be dangerous for your children and your children can be dangerous for farm animals. Do not let your children wander on to the farm. If this cannot be respected, this dance studio can and likely will be shut down.

Thank you for your consideration.

Parents sign and date to acknowledge receipt of rules."

As she is not a licensed business and not on property that is zoned for her business, it is in her best interest to prove that her business is safe to have on farm property. Her own adherence to rules and that of her students' parents are the only thing that she can do to prove her case. I know that you know this, but she needs to take ownership of this problem and do what needs to be done to ensure that she can keep her studio running. There are rules and people there that she needs to be respectful of or she will lose her business. From what you have written, this is none of your doing. She is not playing by the rules and learning the consequences thereof. I lost all of my very expensive breeding stock due to a similar mistake. I even did some of my homework, just not enough. She needs to recognize that there are rules and other people to consider if she wants to play and her father needs to reinforce that fact. He is not doing any one any good with his actions.

So, yeah, GRRRR.

Oh goodness Christina, You NEEDED that tainted drink girl
big_smile.png
Sorry things (people actually) are still being difficult for you. I keep hoping the animals will grow on them and the daughter will clear out. If she hates it so bad, she should clear out. She is getting pretty old to run to daddy all the time.
hmm.png

Glad you were able to get some sleep last night, and love your fighting spirit. Don't let 'em get you down! I have found that worrying about what other people think mostly lands me in trouble. I try my best to be courteous, helpful, respectful, and what they decide to think of me after that I cannot control. If they still find reasons to be mean spirited, that is their problem for sure.

Hang in there! Your work will pay off.
hugs.gif

OH! Would love to see your business cards when they are done!
Yep, I did need that drink...lol. Have had a much better day today. I have been told by elderly relatives that I have a heart that is too gentle and kind for this world... no dah!!

Something I said to the DH must have struck a nerve 'cause he came home early from work and has been trying really hard to be nice. Took me to dinner and mentioned that he had ordered signs for my areas of the property which say STAY OUT> DUCHESNE ZONING PROHIBITS ANY ENTRANCE INTO THIS AREA (or something to that effect). He figures that since nobody has been listening to me, and because he refused to allow me to place signs previously, 'cause he claimed they were rude to his daughter's clients, he now has to step up and do something. I am over joyed!!! However, because these prima donas can't read it should be interesting.

We drove to Vernal and he even paid for lumber for my next coop separation, and explained he was surprised how well my business is actually doing. Today I sold a bunch more guinea keets and have another buyer coming tomorrow.

I'm not stupid.... I know the reason he's being nice is because he 1) doesn't want to explain to his family, friends and the community why the house is totally empty and that EVERYTHING in it was mine; 2) that he lied about what he was all about and a lawyer is now on his butt after all the money and work I'd put into the place to clean it up from the pit it was in when I moved in; 3) that once again, him and his daughters have run another wife off; ETC. PLUS the fact that I'm now bringing in money and have a client base who plans on buying from me in the spring. Even the feed store is sending me his customers and plans on not carrying chicks this spring, but instead referring them to me.

Thanks for the support!! I'm so worn down that little things are making me so emotional... I reread what I wrote and although it's how I feel, I truly sounded pathetic...lol. DH will never change and the daughters will use him until he can't work anymore..... he hasn't any retirement so when he can't work, they'll be too busy for him..... so sadly obvious!!

Christina, keep reminding the people to take care of their kids. They will eventually get the message. Put no trespassing signs on your coops and corrals to strengthen your complaints and visit your friend more often. She sounds like some one you need as a friend
Signs are finally going up!! He wouldn;t allow it previously claiming they were rude but now Duchesne County is demanding them and DH agrees they should have always been there, to prevent the damage and trespassing. I plan on visiting her and also an older couple who just purchased my Cashmere goats. They were disturbed over the situation when they came to get the goats and have became fast friends. Both women have been in my position before and have been very strong for me.

Sundance... I thank you for your wise words!!

madchicken, I agree with Sundance, that very much looks like a girl.

Desert, you have such a cluster going on there. I'm glad you had the spiked drink. I honestly don't see how things are going to work out long term unless your hubby pulls his head out and puts his heart where it should be. I know you are working towards independence. I think that's ultimately what you need to get to. Also, while you're working yourself sick, I'd consider putting up a separation fence around your chicken area with a lock so the snot nosed brats can't get to your flock.
Hi Sphinx...yes, a cluster!!!! Ugh!!!! The fence was just mentioned by DH tonight as a remedy for the lack of privacy and to control some of the trespassing.

All of the aforementioned were things I suggested should be done to ensure our privacy as a residence, however DH was so bent on aiding his daughter in what she wanted, my recommendations went ignored. Because of the zoning meeting now they all have to be implemented!! Every problem I foresaw came to fruition over this darned studio.

And yes, independence is the goal!!!!
Deseret springs! I am impressed you can type! I can't with out typos all over the place and couldn't spell my own name. That rant would have taken me a life time. Hope your feeling better. Sorry to hear about ow you have been taken advantage of.

La casa de poll I want your show girl chicks!

This has not been a good week!
A bunny got out of the cage. Got hurt hind leg dragging.
Found one of my chickens just dead!
Had a keet hatch 2 days early! I might only have 1 out of 40 eggs! I am about ready o give up on hatching.
I can't type this dang thing changes my words and my spacing misses. Or this would be a book.
Off to ind soe chocolate.
Grr on the typos

thanks silly!!! I know it's not my fault. She is just someone who blames others!!! Since Daddy is so protective of her (she's the youngest), he believes EVERYTHING she tells him. She's also a very prolific liar!!! And with her whiny, baby voice, he caves!!!

She received a special zoning permit and I've started using her claim..... "if anyone gets hurt, it's good they signed a waiver". I so worried over the kids running wild in the parking area and the fast traffic coming in. Her comment was so uncaring about them. She wanted their money but didn't care about their lives. With her complaints over my animals and the adults concerns their children would get hurt I resorted to her comment.... "good they signed waivers", but then I followed it up with.... "I signed no agreement that her 'people' could hurt or injury one of my pets or poultry and if one is hurt I guarantee I'll be filing a law suit". Loved the looks!!

Thanks Lil!! I know, it would be so easy, however she tells her Dad that she's sent them letters, confronted them and given them the rules. I know it's all a lie. The few people who speak to me civilly, when I ask them to pick up all the garbage they throw out of their vehicle, in our parking, claim she has never asked them to pick up their own garbage, never told them to stay in the designated areas, and NEVER stated they should watch their children while in between dance classes. They had been given the impression she paid to have the parking area cleaned... the children were allowed to roam at will cause there were tons of interesting farm animals to see, and that they were under constant supervision from the time they were dropped off until they were picked up. They were never even informed I was married to her father, making me her step mother. Most of the people thought I lived in the shed out back, or in the front of the shop, and that I was a transient of sorts. "AIN'T THAT NICE!!!"
sickbyc.gif

Daddy will NEVER make his daughters grow up. His thoughts are when he's gone they will have to figure it out. That just screams volumes to me and shows he's a true failure as a father.

Big thanks to all the support.... us chicken people need to stick together!!!! Chicken nerds against the world!!!
