NO… And no movement either. I've even tried talking to them to see if I can hear anything. Yes, I'm crazy. But it looks like we are starting all over with new eggs. I don't know what I could have done wrong. The temp was steady the entire hatch. It was just the stupid humidity that I was fighting with, and the last 2 day's I've been able to keep it up between 59%-63% at the highest. I'm going to try a few things out for the humidity on the next batch, I was reading to put shallow dishes in the bottom under the wire with water in this LG to help with humidity. It is what it is. I just feel bad that I did something wrong. At least my daughter seems to be okay with it. Specially since I found Silkie eggs, she's all happy about that. My friends neighbor said that they are laying, and they just actually had a broody hatch out 3, so they should be good to give it a try, but we probably will only get about 4 of those eggs, she said that they are only getting 1 a day or they skip a day. So he said he will try to save some starting today, but he said I should try to set them by Tuesday, Wed. the latest. So Red, if you don't mind I would like to try for a EE or OE or whatever and SBEL? is with the 4 or so Silkie eggs. Maybe I will luck out and get some color. I need some color, they are all brown!

I will be going to the Airport to pick up my husband on Sunday Morning. I can bring some down to Gary too if he still needs some for MoMo. I need a MoMo.

Just depressing, because I'm nervous to try again. But they are still in there, and we are praying.

Did you calibrate your thermometer, Silly? Maybe it's a touch low, which would make for slow cooking chicks? Maybe they're just running late. It does happen.

Cynthia, I'm laughing at that poor chicken holding that egg up with her legs. I would've laughed, but felt so awful that I'd probably let her brood. I'm a softie. What are you going to do with your older hens? I have several that are getting into that age group, and I just don't know what I'd do with them.

Yes, I calibrated the thermometer. The bulb one that came with it I stuck it in water with ice in it for 5 minutes on 2 separate times, and it is off by 2 degree's, so I marked it where the temp should really be. And then I have a digital one that I used as well. I had it set at 101.2-101.5 on the top of the eggs, and it was always around 99-99.3 at the bottom since it was still air. Unless that is wrong?

Yup. She was clutching onto it for dear life lol. As far as the older hens....I have a neighbor who will take them for meat..but I am not a fan of the way he "wrings their neck" to butcher them....I will likely try KSL, and see how it goes. They are still laying, just less.

I gotta post a pic of that little broody silkie. She is just darling. Will try and get out there today!

So cute Gary, those silkies are all adorable. I will show the roo to my son and see what he thinks, he is the rooster caretaker

Sad note...have not lost any birds at all this winter, and today I saw my best NN Alice (Alice in Wonderland from Sundancen) that lays an awesome egg-a-day, by far the biggest of my NN and the one with the most personality......she was out fiddling around and pecking at the mousetraps. The bait is enclosed...so I have not worried too much about it. Then I saw her this afternoon chasing a mouse, looked like she caught it and ate it, I was about 20 feet away. Then tonight, I went out to tuck everybody in and she was laying on the coop floor. She had been gone a while, she was rigid. UUUUGGGGGHHH! She is the Momma of all the NN polka dots, and really she was one of my best layers. WHHHHYYYY is it always the best layers that end up going. I am kicking myself now for putting that bait out there. I think I have found well over 50 dead mice this week, I had a pile of them in a bucket yesterday morning, and have been so happy the bait is getting chowed down on. But Oh Man I do not want to lose any more chickens, what to do? The rest seem happy. It makes sense it would be her though, she is the adventurous curious one, always first to get to the scrap pile. First to come running out blabbing at me when she sees me in the morning. Definitely the most verbal. I am really going to miss her out there every morning! Boohoo, dang it!

See the mouse? I had 5 in there at once. Then kept catching them last year. I haven't had a problem this! ??

I have two EE's, and three working on it. Boy, the first is big, the second one is small. A chipmunk and a black, I think..it looks kind of blue. Can't quite tell yet, and it's fluffed out!
