Utah!

No, I don't have a turner, but I was really thinking today that I should got get the turner, but I would have to kick out an egg. Lol. It will only hold 42 eggs. I'm sure I will lose at least 1/4 of them by day 7, right? I can imagine them all being fertile. Well I'm sure my 13 OE's are. At least I'm praying they are. But for the others, I'm not sure on their fertility. So we were told they are fertile. Time will tell.
With more eggs it will take a still air longer to get up to temperature because there is more to heat through. Once you're at temperature, though, it should actually be more stable than with less eggs because the eggs themselves will act like heat sinks. Good luck with your hatch.

I did the first hand rotation, and boy is that hard with 43 eggs in there which all seem to want to roll around. I got shelf liner, so I guess I will have to get that in there some time. Filled in more water, hopefully the humidity comes up, but I'm not going to worry to much about it right now.

And yes, Cynthia they felt like they were baking at the right temp. :D

Sphinx, I noticed you are in the hatch along with NO numbers! I was looking at all the numbers, some people are nuts at 388 eggs. WOW. But I posted that I thought you had 8 under your Silkie. :D I think today was last day for chicken eggs, but I could be wrong. So go chime in if you still have your 8, and then some. I hope your BO was still really going to set for you. :D

Cynthia did you get your eggs?

Ace, I have my turning interval at 8. I think that's not quite right for these enormous marans eggs.

Welcome KunzlerFarm! I'm in Davis county, but my next door neighbor is in Weber, so that's pretty close, right? I sell fertile french black copper marans, either chicks or eggs. So, I can hook you up in a while.

Silly, thanks, I'll report today. Yeah, I put 8 eggs out there, and then the stupid BO decided not to be broody. I think that's too many for my little silkie, so I may move some into an incubator.

YouCluckingAtMe, how did your hatch go?

I have some chicks due to hatch on Wednesday. 6 FBCM- donating them to a 4H group. So, I think I'll be turning the webcam on Tuesday or Wednesday.

the silkie chicks are doing well. The kids are loving them. They go to a private school and today they took the chicks for show and tell

My hatch didn't do great my Turner broke and I don't know how long it wad that way before I found out . 3 of my rirs hatched. 2 fbcm. Are hatching. They are taking forever . But so far that's it . I had some Jubilees in they're to . Grrrrrrrrr

What kind of hatch rates do you see from shipped eggs? I realize this is an impossible question to answer I am just trying to decide do I have eggs shipped in or go ahead and pay more money for chicks to be shipped. I can buy 24 eggs cheaper than 10 chicks but in the end do you think I will end up with 10 chicks out of 24 shipped eggs?

6kids don't do shipped eggs. The hatch rate for me has been poor. I got 1 chick out of 40 eggs.
I am a lurker, but I do enjoy everyone's post. I wonder how many lurkers there are!
Poor pitiful pearl

I agree I ordered 40 threw e Bay and none hatched . That's y I started putting pure breeds together. Do I wouldn't get hosed . And also others I sell to would get good hatch rate

Where and how do you store your eggs you are holding before putting them in the incubator? I have a side room on my house that stays much cooler but this won't be the case as summer arrives.
