Utah!

ok im pretty sure my spalsh rooster has other colors in him now . 1 chick has hatched and its not spalsh. It looks blue with silver tip's. its still wet but i will get a picture as soon as it is up and moving and i move it to the brooder.

I wonder what my 4 eggs will look like. We are on day 17 today. Momma was pretty ****** off at me today. I decided that I was moving her into the grow out pen with her eggs before they hatched, because my FBCM/EExLegbar Hen has decided she wants to be broody too. GRR... and was taking the eggs from the Silkie. I would go out and she would be on them and the Silkie on other eggs. So I moved her today before they hatch because I don't want them to fight over them like what happened to poor Lisa. It took her about a full hour to settle down that she was out there with her eggs. So I hope they were okay. And of course right after we had a huge rain down pour that flooded everything out. And that ****** her off too. So I hope I didn't hurt them by moving her. She seemed content out there this evening sitting on her eggs.

The other LF hen that thinks she should be broody, I locked her out of the hen house this morning, and she got stuck in the down pour. We had like a huge micro burst, we got at least an inch of rain in less than 10 minutes. Everything flooded, including my garage, which has never happened. I felt so bad afterwards, but I kicked her out to see if I could get her to stop sitting. And I'm hoping that the rain fixed that, because after it mellowed out, it was pouring and so windy, that I waited for most of it to pass, still got soaked going out to let her in, but she was on the roost tonight. First time in a week. And there was 2 eggs in the box. So maybe that broke her. Figures crossed.

Chick update. After a few hours sleep i woke up to find 4 little chicks hatched. I was wrong on the blue color with silver tips, it was still wet and i was seeing the blue color of its body. They all look splash but 2 have red leaking through. They are going to be interesting when dry. I will not be keeping any of these little ones if anyone is interested.

Gary, wish I had room in my flock for some Silkies. Yay for babies!

Had to laugh last night. My turkey hen, who has been brooding, has a buddy: my black Wyandotte. While the turkey was busy trying to flog me last night as I was checking the eggs for new ones, my little Wyandotte helped herself to the turkey's egg and scooted it under herself. Lol!

Here is a video from Sundance. This is so cool i wish i had a trained chicken.

this is my vet friends daughter, the chickens name was Coltana. That night she was killed by a dog. She was such a pet they were all devastated. But I loved the video and Gary was kind enough to help me post it

I have a huge opened 50lb. bag of medicated chick starter from IFA that I only used a few cups of for a sick baby chick. I don't normally use anything medicated, and will not use the rest of it. I would hate to see it go to waste. Does anybody want it? Free if you come pick it up. I'm located in Draper.

I was waiting outside this morning to see Erykah....had a great visit! I got some pictures to share of my coops, particularly the new one we built to replace the doghouse coops for the silkies and Polish/Houdans.

The new one. it is two sided, a mirror image on each side for the two flocks:
