I will be looking for NH chicks in March/April if anyone is planning on hatching any around then

NH, White Rock, and BA are the three I want to add to my flock in the Spring.

Wow, thanks so much for the condolences you guys. I have to admit I was pretty heartbroken over it, and most of my IRL friends didn't seem to really "get" it, so to see such sweet words really means a lot. My other neighbor helped both of us bury our chickens, and then asked around, and I guess a family of raccoons has been seen around, so I'm guessing that is what the culprit was. I don't think they can get in to my enclosure now though- we fortified everything.

Cynthia, thanks for the offer of the New Hampshire chicks. I'm still tempted by either your EE or your BCM chicks.

I don't remember if the shipper had required a signature or not on the "lost" package. I do know the kids at the house accepted the package and opened it. The mom was really, really embarrassed to give me the box. I know both our driver and our backup driver by name. Bill even recognizes my car because I've literally chased him down in the neighborhood if I just barely missed him. LOL I promise I am very, very nice to them.

There's a BCM breeder in the American Fork area, and I'm thinking about seeing if he has any hatching eggs. River Rock Farms in South Weber would be my first pick, but I guess she puts all of her flock together for the winter, and I can't get purebred hatching eggs til February. But that's like TWO WHOLE MONTHS away!!! Maybe I'll buy a couple mutt eggs from her, just for giggles.

Oh, I was going to mention, I had a SLW, and she never went broody. My only chicken to go broody was my BCM hen. She was a terrible layer too- I owned her about 15 months, and got maybe 12 eggs out of her. She sure was pretty though.

Cynthia---My SLW and her big wattles. She is only 8 mos old so I am sure she is not done yet....you still think yours might be a roo?

Been doing that dust bathing thing. I fed them some boiled carrots and they chowed down and are rolling in the dirt, I guess at least they are staying entertained lol.

Will post the cute xmas lights tonight after dark.

Oh wow! Thanks for the pics. The babies will get less wriggle worms the more they are handled. Usually.

I see what you mean about one being more full than the other..but they sure can change as they grow. They both have puffy cheeks. Like I told you, my new EE's don't. I'm not used to that. One also has the feathered legs, different breeder too. Hope there is a girl in this mix..I want the green egg, you want the blue.

These new ones all came from a green egg. We will have to post our eggs come summer when they start laying.
Your silver is gorgeous! And yes, this gives me hope. Those are some large wattles. lol.. my girl will be two months old Wed. I hope mine laces out that nice. Some don't. And, she has a sweet look to her..some have the onery, or stern look. If you look up pictures of them, you'll see what I mean.
You are wanting NH too? I only hear good things about them when it comes to laying. That's what I want. And, I'm hoping mine are more the red with the black tip tail than the buff and black. The dad is quite red..soooo...

Thanks again for the pictures. I will have to post pictures of my black girl, and maybe my SLW. I'm afraid if I post my SLW someone will say...cockerel!

Yes my SLW is sweet. Really she is, I think I am lucky. She is very docile and lays mostly every day. SHe likes to dig a lot though, she is always making holes everywhere!

Here is the light pic I promised, pretty funny

Hey Lisa..go to hatching eggs for sale. The lady that I bought the eggs that I hatched your babies from is selling again. She has pictures of the them there. Newlyweds.. There is a real pretty black EE on there! And, there is one that has the BCM coming out pretty good with the red on the neck, and feathering on the feet. You shouldn't have any red come out on the neck that I can see, but one of yours has a little feathered feet. Go check it out. Pretty birds. She says she has olive eggers too, but I promise, the ones that you got came from pretty blue eggs. I had a combination, but I had told her I was wanting blue eggs, so I was lucky the ones that lay blue eggs>>were laying.

So I have the one that I kept from her group ~~ the two you got from her. And, watching for a girl looking baby for my green egg. The different breeder.

Go to her website in blue..you will see a black called Jade..I am guessing that is mama hen, because when you scroll down, you will see two eggs...one green, one blue, that's how blue these back babies eggs looked.

I edited my last post to you about her black EE and the two eggs..

My SLW looked pretty unlacy for the longest time. I was just sure (and even had people here tell me), that she wasn't going to lace out very well and not make a very good looking SLW.

Here she was when she was 2ish months old:

And as an adult:

She was my head hen- she even outranked the rooster. It was really funny, because sometimes, he would try to peck at me when my back was turned, and she'd go after him to defend me.

Cynthia, can you link me to the auction to which you're referring? I'm curious.
