Hi, I'm looking for a few Black or Chocolate English Orpington Hens Large Fowl.  Does anyone know where I can get maybe 3?  Also, willing to trade a purebred Chocolate English Orpington (Large Bantam), cockerel who is gorgeous so far, 4 months old and just starting to crow. I live in Cache Valley.  Anyone near by maybe??

You may want to post on the Idaho Thread...there are a few folks with choc orps on Pocatello...they don't get on much but others may be able to direct you to them, I can't remember the username. Als RFunnyFarm has orps in Blackfoot.

Hello! We are new to Utah, moved to Logan last August and are brand new to chickens. We brought 8 little fluff balls home from the IFA in North Ogden a couple days ago - 2 Ameraucanas, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte, 1 Cuckoo Marans, and 1 Welsummer. All are doing awesome and we're so excited to be a crazy chicken family. We are currently on the hunt for a coop to accommodate our lil ladies. We've checked IFA and CAL Ranch but don't want to pay that much for a coop that probably won't last that long. Also found a beautiful coop at Down Home but it was $700 or $800 and we don't have that much to spend. Any other suggestions besides the classifieds which I've also been trying to keep an eye on? Any great DIY coop plans that won't break the bank to build? And what predators will we be dealing with? We live on the east side of Logan between USU and the mountains. Thanks!

That design can be scaled down to meet your needs. I built my "Egg Plant" from scratch and didn't draw out any plans for it. I live north of you on the border of North Logan and Logan @ 1600 east. I would be more than happy to lend a tool, give advice, or let you look at my two coops.

Keeping any build under $300 will require some degree of finding materials to reuse. If you bought everything in the above plans I would guess that you would be between 300 and 400 dollars.

I haven't had any predator issues. I do know that there are racoons, skunks, and mountain lion in the neighborhood but I have not had any come down to my yard. My 3 dogs also help with that. Lots of birds of prey. I would suggest that whatever coop you build, make sure it has space under it for the birds to hide.

Just don't get in trouble until after you set your eggs for the Easter Hatch Along I am trying to squeeze as many in as I can before that, I don't think my family has noticed bators running in the upstairs bedroom and the front room downstairs. LOL

Anybody want chicks yet? I have a some left from the Valentine's Day hatch....a couple barnyard mix that will be great layers, 2 with a marans daddy so they should be darker egg layers, and a blue Olive Egger from an SBEL mom...pretty chick...also 2 really cute stripey fat EE, a couple others. They are 8 days old.
