Utah!

I went outside to gather some eggs today and realized I have a very broody, and very mean momma who wants to raise some chicks. It was so funny trying to put eggs under her. She's was squawking and making all sorts of noise bit when she realized she had eggs under her instead of a golf ball she seemed content and started moving them into position under her. I never did say "I'm in" for the hatch a long since I wasn't planning on hatching but now I will have some chicks hatching with you guys:) do you think 8 eggs are too much for a large hen or could I put a few more under her?

I put 10 under my leghorn marans mix, and she seems fine. : / they should be hatching in the next day or two. I think you would be very safe with two.

I ended up putting a total of 9 eggs under her and she still has plenty of room. I just hope she stays a good mom because I don't have an incubator at the moment. These chick's will be very interesting mixes. I can't wait to see what they produce. For those of you that know me will know I love my mutt chickens haha:) you never really know what they will look like And the egg colors vary quite a bit. Crossing my fingers :)

So I was at Gary's last night and told him about my Silkie mix that I hatched from his eggs and he wanted a photo. I just love her. She is beautiful. So thought I would share here. I think he needs to try some more Silkie/blrw crosses more often. At least that is my guess what she is.

So pretty! I love her color and her fuzzy bum, heehee :) (only on a chicken forum can you get away with saying that)

My blue Wyandotte had twelve under her once  She kept trying to hoard more, but any more than twelve and she couldn't cover them. She's a big, floofy girl.

Those are so cute! I'm almost positive the one I got from you is a hen. She's looking gorgeous. I had to trim around her eyes a little bit so she could see where she was walking. Glad you got some cute babies!:)

I was thinking of putting 12 under her but I will just keep it at 9. I miss my blrw. She was so pretty and a really good mom. I will find some more someday:)
