Utah!

@RedIII The two brown babies are the Icelandics. :) They are pretty! Blacky there has three similar looking siblings. One looks blue, and one is sort of mahogany colored. Mixes are so fun to see!!

Happy hatchings everyone!

They are precious! Do you have Icelantic chickens for sale?

I'm so sad when I get on here after so much time has passed. My son threw my phone in the toilet, which is how i would check posts on here. I just haven't gotten around to replacing it. And my classes were intense for a while. Im on a break rightness, though.

Red, stats are in. Two of the Icees hatched sometime in the wee hours this morning. Man are they just the cutest little balls of fluff! I couldn't peek for long, Little Mother was about to eat me alive. ^.^ Candled the other two Icelandic eggs, and found they had quite at about day 10. So 50%. I didn't read all the posts I had missed, but I did see you had set some more eggs about a week ago. I'll be interested to find out how they are doing. Im sorry if you've already updated on them...

Other than the Icelandics, I have two EE/austrolorp mixes hatched, and two more with movement. One of my EE's has super long muffs, and surprisingly lays a blue egg. She is all black, very pretty. One of the eggs I set is from her, can't tell yet if hers has hatched.

@LPeaslee
 It turns out two of the three FBCM I bought from you are cockerels. ha ha ha I'm 90% certain that is, as their combs are huge compared to the other. That's how it turns out buying straight run. :) Made my husband laugh.

I wouldn't determine the BCM sex solely on comb size. BCMs have large combs and wattles, if you are also seeing the comb become red, then you are probably correct on the sex.

@LPeaslee---
Question on your ladycats Marans babies.

The one I hatched---is black and is getting brown speckles all over the body! None of my Marans ever look like that, they are solid until juvie stage then get a little copper around the neck, boys get the red shoulders...

Are your babies all solid? I am wondering if mine was a mix with a wrong daddy somehow. Weird! Just wondering if yours feathered out properly so far.

I'm pretty sure Ladycat's line is comprised of birds of varying quality.
Some of my chicks I hatched from her eggs are still all black, some have copper comming in.

Here is one of Ladycat's with copper showing. Is this what you are seeing.

If so, your bird may be a bit "mossy". I don't believe it is a defect, but it is an undesirable trait. Hopefully the mossyness will not be as evident when this one is fully grown.

Yes, it looks like that :/. Never had a chick from my other lines look like that :/ Boo. I think this one could be a boy, we will see. But not super thrilled about this mossy business. Hope you get some that turn out with nice adult plumage. Will be interesting to see how this changes as it grows.

I am working on trying to hatch some. I have a couple of people here who are lined up for some already, but I can let you know when I have more for sale :)

Gus, that's awesome! Congrats! :) I want to see how the brown one in the back feathers out.

Check it out! My red turkey hens are laying, yay!

What's funny is that this seems small to me. My bronze hen is smaller and she lays some real whoppers!

Oh, I see. I was going off the gross difference in sizes only. They all appear to be the same color. I am obviously hoping for more pullets then one. ha ha ha Thanks!

I agree! That baby is an interesting color, very pretty!

Ive never seen a turkey egg before, but I think I would expect them to look bigger. I thought recently that if any of my other hens go broody this year, I might try to procure a turkey egg, or two, to hide underneath her, instead of chicken eggs. It would work with a standard GLW, right?

Brian, are you coming up tonight or tomorrow to get chicks? If not I think I found some people who will take them. You have first dibs, so let me know.
