Just joined BYC. Have had our chickens about 7 weeks. We have inherited 3 large chickens as well!

I am happy to say the city council here in Roy approved the proposed chicken/rabbit ordinance 4-1!

Lots of rules to follow but if we're all good little flock-raisers, we should be able to revisit it in a few years.

quick synopsis--lots have to be 8000 sq ft or larger in a zone for single-home residential. Max 6 hens or rabbits or combo. Has to have a run with max 150 ft and has to be 6 ft from property line. Oh and your neighbors will be notified by letter.

We'll be remodeling our coop/run sometime this year to accommodate the rules, especially now that it doesn't have to be a stealth coop.

Altogether with the current group and our predecessors, it took about 5 years to reach this point.

Thanks! Got the draw notification this evening! Drew my second choice and I'll be using a muzzleloader this fall. Should be fun. What kind of game bags do you use?

Used to deer hunt..and also do the muzzleload. Oh, the good ol days when I was young. Loved the Elk meat..deer meat was ok when we got a young one.
We would go to the Uintas for the muzzload...where do you go?

Hi all! I'm returned from the south, getting moved back in to my house, barn, and coop. What a mess!

Looking for some hatching eggs to brighten my days... Anyone have or know of source for Blu/Black/Splash Ameraucana or other nice blue eggs, Salmon Faverolle, and Black Copper Marans hatching eggs?

Some of you had Cream Legbars started a few years ago... How'd that go? Are you happy with the color?

Lady Isadora - how is the plucker coming? DH built one from a washing machine - it's great! but the building of it had more kinks than expected. He set up a whole processing station. It makes processing and clean up a breeze.

Good to be home - would love to hear from you all.

Welcome back @MoriahQuilts the pucker is coming along. It's a surprisingly challenging project. Sweetie got the base plate done without too much cussing. We are working on acquiring the correct size pully system.

we were going to use a washing machine but opted for a different plan. Plans have changed several times. There are more kinks than expected. If you have any tips or advice, This would be a good time.
