Utah!

I just picked up our chicks today. :) I got 4 for us and 4 for our friends, I'm going to brood their chicks for them. 2 each of Easter Egger, Welsummer, Speckled Sussex and Buff Orpington. I really wanted a Delaware, but the IFA I went to only had the Delawares straight run and I don't want to go down that road. :) I'm excited, the kids love looking at them and I'm having a hard time not going down to the basement every few minutes to check on them!

corvidae - They do look cute! I am very tempted to get a few from you, but I'm putting in an order for chicks this week and I don't know how much space I'll have. Dang! And I'm glad to hear that the two strugglers are doing well. Yay!

Elk - I'm guessing you've been busy (goodness forbid you should have a life

) Just seeing if you got my message?

So this warm weather has been nice. Very Springish. It's kind of too bad the forecast is calling for more snow tonight. Come on, now, Winter. You had your shot, and you messed it up. Get outta here.

And kimmypie - Cool! I'm looking forward to getting my own Welsummer. If you're looking for a Delaware, you might check with Hector/Chiko. I got a sweet little pullet from him not too long ago and he might have another he could sell to you. They're in very good health!

Well, heck Red, just order 8 less and you'll have plenty of room. I'll give you a sweet deal-- all 8 for ten bucks!

Cynthia-- yes, I am keeping the legbars, assuming they hatch well, but if luck holds, I'll start having spare legbar babies this winter or early spring!

4 chickens is my limit. I know, chickens are addictive and all that, but really I can't have more than 4 at this time. I can't let myself get caught up because I know how easy it would be to double the flock...

LOL! Well let's hope it goes better than it currently looks--the first set looks like only 2 out of 6 are developing. It's only day 4, though, so I am still hopeful! I also have two more sets total--one on the way in a couple of weeks and one that I am setting tomorrow. Total number of eggs will be something like 19. If the gods are kind, I will end up with at least 4-5 hens and a good rooster or two! I hear that Cream Legbars are kind of slow developers, so maybe 8-9 months after hatching for eggs. We'll see how it goes!

By the way, Both chicks are up and walking and looking like there was never a blessed thing wrong with them now. They are so dang cute. My middle son keeps trying to talk me into keeping the Austrolorp mixes, but that ain't gonna happen (yes, he is reading this while I type!). I'm pretty focused on my BLRW's and the new Legbars. Pretty pretty babies....

My Chicks got shipped out!!!! I tracked the shipment and it said estimated arrival was March 7th! Tomorrow! Woo! They're not that far away :)

Anybody want some teenager chicks? The oldest are 6 weeks old. Very cute! I've got tons of breeds and ages PM me!

Cynthia--Check facebook, I put a couple pictures of my new chicks :D

Hector---out there somewhere in this world is a box full of fuzzy bummed sweethearts just waiting to get to their home. How cute is that! Hope they all arrive safe and healthy!

Just sat down with the DH. Got the plans drawn, lumber list done. Off to the Home Depot Friday night to buy the supplies, Saturday is coop building day. Scaled it down a bit so we could do a playhouse for my son also next.....wood costs so much when you start to add it up! Instead of a whole new coop setup we are going to make another like what we have, same floor space, and hook them together....hope it works! Will get pics up of the final project. My girls will LOVE me when we are done, they are too crowded (my fault---chicken math failed) :D :D :D :D

A neighbor friend was over tonight, we have been talking about chickens the last few visits, she is ready to do it. I am excited for her, you can tell she is really getting excited too. Good luck Katie if you are reading this!! It will be fun to see how chicken math works for her. She says 4 is all she wants. (;) )

Red--What about the blizzard? It was a white out there for awhile....anybody down south getting it? Not tons of snow....just wind blowing it everywhere, could not even see out my window for a bit It drifted up my front door, I opened it, and the wall of snow fell inside lol! Not a good night to try and run errands. You are right, winter needs to be DONE, not just starting lol!
