Ok, guess what kind of offer I had given to me. Probably pretty easy to guess. And the funny thing is, it's coming from a guy you would never even guess would want unusual birds..chickens. He's from Gunnison.
He has bought a lot of chicks from me, the Ameraucanas. He wants more. I bought some eggs just for him, and he will buy all the chicks. Should get them tomorrow.
He asks me, have you heard of those Flower chickens? I smile, and say, yes,those Swedish Flowers. He wants some, then I tell him how big the legbars are..he says he is going to check that out. Then he says, oh yeah! I saw those. He says the best place to get them is from Florida..and wondered if he bought them, if I would hatch them...I said..Legbars? I hatch some Legbars fro you, I get a girl! He says, no problem. Oh dear. Not sure I want to hatch the real expensive ones for someone else. Worried they wouldn't work out. And I told him that, and he says he knows. He's got two big bators, the cabinet kind, that he is going to sell. He has Hova bators he is going to stick to. Has some in now. Wants more hatched..he knows I have time. He has cows. He has chickens. He has land he grows some produce on. Oh dear.

How cool is that? You will get your legbar. AND get to hatch some super fun chicks. And get to hatch more eggs for fun. You WILL have fun, right? WE will have fun seeing the pics Sounds like you have a fun connection! Envy! I am really excited for you! e

Besides that, he is getting the best hatcher I know. He is pretty lucky!

So you kept your deal that you were done hatching about as long as I kept my deal that I was done getting chicks It is awesome!

Donna, I am so sad for you about your little special needs chick. Poor baby. I was rooting for that one! But glad you have your new chicks to make it feel a little less awful! I cannot wait to come see your babies this weekend. Those of your son's look really cute in the pictures.

I really do want to be done for a while. I want to clean that room up really good. It is sooo dusty in that carpet, I just know it. Of course it vacumed around the bins, but I want to move everything and get that carpet clean. I want to wash down walls, and have a nice guest room again. It really is a cute room. I love the lavender color on the walls..it's fun working with that color when making the bed up. I've gone with a few different colors in pillows and throws, now the extra bedroom downstairs is used more often.

Ok, I'll edit..and say...I CAN SAY NO..lol.....

Oh, and Lisa, you are a sweetheart..you said I am a good hatcher.

Oh the dust is bad huh! My house is all black and white inside...everywhere there is black shows the dust so bad. And the constant parade of pine shavings that just reappear right after I vacuum. (They come out of nowhere!) I know what you mean, it is nice to be done. And to stop worrying about integrating babies.

So hopefully after this the hatch-a-rama will end for you! And you can have your nice room back to yourself and your guests

I am going to re-home my boys, then sell any chicks that hatch next week, if I am lucky enough to get any....and I am trying to tell myself to be done, but I think there is one more little batch of babies around the time of Chickenstock that might happen.....if I can find me a FBCM, and a friend for that one. THEN I will see in the fall who lays what color, and figure out my strategy for next year. Hopefully I will be done with chicken dust by June Working on that art of saying no..... Not working!

Ugh, chicken dust...

Makes me think about turning all those pretty chicken feathers into the world's largest feather duster! I have one back room where the babies are kept and even if I wipe things down daily, it builds up so fast I can't keep ahead of it. Last year, when we finished hatching and growing, I bought my boys dust masks and paid them $50 to clean the room top to bottom. Took them 3 days!

Has anyone ever gone to the Utah Fancy Poultry Show? I'm thinking about going this Saturday and wonder if they really do auction off any birds that are worthwhile? Never been to anything like that. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Chickenstock, since I have to work that week-end. I was thinking I might be able to pick up some birds at the Poultry show that would make my middle son happy, since he lost that baby chick he was so fond of tonight. Either that, or maybe talking him into some of the Marans I see coming up on KSL ads--anyone know anything about those breeders or the quality of the birds? I want Marans, but I'm a little afraid he might be wanting something from Greenfire like his older brother has with the Breda. That would be rather a pricey option after all we've spent on the Cream Legbars and the Breda!

Cor..love that idea..I have a lot of grand children..wonder if they want to earn some money?? I know some that would do it in a heart beat..some are getting old enough to actually do a decent job. I have a few daughters that would be running right over if they knew I was up to a big cleaning project, and I mean cleaning..that room! hmmm, grand children.

Here's a fun pic or two of my blue I decided to keep from my last hatch...and, I got some eggs for that guy today that I am hatching, not the expensive ones, I really am going to say no to that, but I have two more shipped egg boxes coming for him besides this one. And they won't be all going to him. Oh Lisa, I keep thinking I've seen the prettiest blue egg.. but..these eggs are really pretty. I got them from Huckfarm.com Really blue.

If you want economical good quality chicks, I'm getting an assortment from Sandhill Preservation probably in the next 2 weeks. Not sure what I'll get, but I will have about 15 extra1

Interesting, I just went to that site..it isn't there! I checked out a couple. ?? It's Huckleberry Farm in SC. Will have to look more..not that I think you want to order eggs, but it's bugging me now!! lol...

Jan, no, it isn't Jay, this guy lives in Gunnison.

Ok, it's all different, they must be making a new site..I didn't have to log in before..? Oh well.
