Utah!

Cute chicks Cynthia! The little silkies look so fat and cute. Sorry to hear about the others....so sad! No pips on mine yet, my nearly deads may be all the way gone :( But some more that looked better due on Tue, we will see.

White blanket outside this morning. It blew all over in the run, so it will be a mud hole today :(

Sasha, loved your chick pictures. I wouldn't worry too much about the lacing on your SLW yet. I had a SLW from IFA. As she started feathering in, it looked all wrong. I even had people here tell me she wouldn't improve at all, but she ended up being a really, really beautiful hen. I can post pictures if you want.

Cynthia, sorry about your poor hatches. To get NONE would be really disappointing.

It is SNOWING here. I'm supposed to have 75 or so people over tomorrow to do an Easter Egg hunt. Keep your fingers crossed this all melts away and we have great weather tomorrow.

Snow?!?! How can it possibly be snowing?! It's April, for pity's sake, and my juvenile cream Legbars are in an OUTSIDE freaking coop! Now I have to go find something to cover it with!

Wow, havent been on here in a day and a lot has happened!
Cordivae, Im so sorry about your chickies, so glad you figured it out! Does anybody else have those sorts of problems with the nipple waterers? I want to switch my babies over, but I am so afraid this will happen now!
Cynthia, your silkies are gorgeous, I can see why they would go fast!! And Easter weekend too, how perfect!
Sasha, love the pics of your SLW chicks. I love when they snuggle up like that and fall asleep on you. And those cochin frizzles! OMG.

We'll finish our bag of starter feed tonight, and Im metally preparing myself for walking into CAL tonight. *no more chickens, no more chickens* Maybe staring at all these pics will desensitize me? I doubt it!

Happy Weekend y'all!

undercover---good luck! I am purposefully going to a feed mill that has no chicks just to avoid the whole temptation. Hats off to sphinx...and you if you can do it :p I know there is no way for me I am too far gone lol

Donna---hope your teens are ok in the snow :) i was hoping to introduce some more newbies outdoors but will have to wait til Sunday I guess.

Hey QP if I post a pic of my polish with crazy feathers can you try to tell me if I got the coloring that I wanted? It was supposed to be a white crested black, but the crest has black around the edges and it looks gray speckled everywhere else. I really do not think that is what it is. Maybe it will be something else? I almost wondered if it was blue. Then my one that was supposed to be blue is white with splotches, maybe will be a splash?. Not quite right.

The other one that was supposed to be blue....I wondered if this one might be a boy it is feathering slower and I read somewhere on here that if the crests are not as fluffy that could mean boy. Any input would be appreciated!

The first one is looking like a WC Blue (White crested blue) or since the picture isn't that clear and they're beginning to get in their adult feathers it's hard to tell if it's just missing feathers or if there are color differences. If you're telling me there are color differences then maybe a WC Cuckoo (Very cool, I love those kinds.) and the second looks like a Splash. The first one isn't black, it would be darker by now if it was so sorry about that.

I just found some random pics for ya

WC Blue - As you can see there are some blue feathers in the crest and some light color differences in the feathers so it is possible it is a blue.

Here's a WC Cuckoo chick - If the color differences are more dramatic then I would say a cuckoo or a poorly bred blue where they let them mix breed with a cuckoo and a blue.

As for the second chick, definitely a splash. No doubt in my mind.
Good luck with them they're so cute ^^

Oops forgot about gender lol. The first WC Blue or Cuckoo I would say is a hen just because of the crest. It looks more rounded like it will be a ball like the hens crests. As for the splash it's really hard to tell on both of them since they are so young it's a 50/50 lol. I would say that maybe the splash is a roo just because the crest looks smaller and more dispersed in many directions. It's hard to say but they may both be roos because of the crest size or just small crested hens. They ares till very young though so I would wait another week or so then post another pic :)

QP--Thank you so much! That helped a ton! I was pretty sure the WCB was not going to turn out WCB. Sad, that is what my son has been wanting Forever! But gives us the reason to try again next spring for another :) it is a hatchery chick so it could be anything :p And the second one is acting boyish already so I think you are right :)
