Utah!

Ok, I think I told your Red, that Thurs. Fri. And Sat. were hatch days. Wrong! My brain needs to keep up here..It's Wed, for the mix, then the BBS will be Thurs. and Fri. Sooner is always good.

Oh yes, you have your chickens at another place. What do you use for raccoon bait? I hope you catch that little stink. What a relief that would be for you.

Lisa, one of your black girls is checking out they next boxes? And squatting? That's fun. I know the wait is hard, but you have to admit, it's fun going out to check. This is the fun part, going out to the coop, anticipating that pretty BLUE egg. ha ha..I hope at least one of them lays a blue egg. Then you would be happy, and your son would be happy. But, I am seeing that the blacks more often lay the greens. Sorry.

I honest to goodness did not know that, but, why did they come from more of a blue egg then? And that's what I told you. It's true, they were more blue than green, I know that now with all of the others eggs I have hatched from Ameraucanas and EE's since. I've seen the black babies coming out of the more blue/geeen, or more green/blue, and of course the splash and blues coming out of the really pretty blue eggs. The lighter the chick the more blue the egg. Didn't you say you have a white Ameraucana? And that her egg is blue, only it's a light blue? In this second bator, I have some very nice looking blue eggs. I wish you could get a few of these to watch. I kept a blue from Cowgirl from my last hatch of hers..these others go into lock down tomorrow. Oh man, the babies that come from her are stunning, and yes, there are those blue eggs. Had to keep a chick from her..too puffy and cute. Plus, she is that dark blue color. I have, and have had, the lighter blues for a long time..she is going to be so much darker, nice change. I will take pictures later.
I'm off to get my neck x-rayed to see if the surgery is staying fused. IT better BE! I don't want the neck brace back on. Plus, I have to go to the court house to turn in some papers. I have a mentally handicapped sister that I am guardian over. She is in a home, but I have guardianship. I have to do this every now and again. The paper work is not fun. But, I want to stay as her guardian.
Later, with another picture heavy post. I love using my son's new camera, until my cannon comes. It's small, but much better than I had.
Lisa, I want to come home and see an egg posted from your black EE. :))

Cynthia good luck at the doc! Hoping for good prognosis :)

Yes my White lays bluISH but they really look greenISH next to the blue eggs you have gotten :) It was sold as an EE but has all the Am traits so I do not know for sure what she is. But she is great she lays big and almost every day! So long as she behaves and stays sweet I will keep here until she stops or slows way down. My Laverne and Shirley have the FCBM daddy so that will likely make them Olive Eggs, which is fine! If they surprise me with Blue I will be thrilled. The little puffy faced ones I got from you, from cowgirl....one turned out columbian colored that turned out to be a boy. I read somewhere on here the Columbian feather pattern is almost always male. (that was the darker brown chick with the fat cheeks I got from you at Red Lobster). My chipmunk one is getting the colmbian pattern too, mostly black and white, with more speckling through the torso, not as white. BUT the comb is still yellow so I am not selling it yet. There might be hope! If Laverne and SHirley both lay olive I might sell one of them to make room for more Marans or blue egg layers. Should be easy to sell where they will have just started laying. Will see what happens, hope they have different eggs. I really like Laverne's white frosted muffs :) It is always hard to decide who to keep. One of my polish is looking like a boy...my splash I got from you from the hatch of three, with the teeny black one and the chipmunk is looking boyish too. So i might keep more of these marans chicks than I originally planned....and keep trying to find an Ameraucana that lays blue. Maybe one more batch of eggs for those. You will have to post which seller sells the blue-est eggs if you can remember...

Looking forward to your pictures!! Good luck hatching this week! I have Donna's BLRW hatching sat-Sun. They look really good. 10 out of 11 made it this far. I did better with the temps this time lol. No more nearly-deads :) :)

Hey, I am totally fine with an earlier hatch!

Right now I've got a marshmallow out in the new trap birdman helped me get. We've also used sardines and remains a la chicken, both of which have had hits from the coon, though they were in the box traps. The thing I hate about this one is that not only is it big, it's smart. It's probably been around for a while and knows some tricks, which I'm betting is why I've had such a hard time getting a hold of it. And YES, it would be an incredible relief to have that thing gone! I'm just grateful that my Marans chose to set up her nest a ways away from the raccoon's path of traffic in the yard. She's a smart girl.

Ohhh, okay. It's nice to see what the Columbian coloration looks like on a bird from someone who's local. Most of the pictures I pull up on Google make it look like a light Brahma.

Lisa, if you get an olive egg from either Laverne or Shirley, please put up pictures!

And good luck with the hatch!

Hey birdman, forgot to say earlier - Congrats on the new bunny hutch! There isn't such a thing as bunny math, right?

If you ever get the chance, I'd love to see a picture of your Flemish girl. But only if it's not too much of a hassle.

Hi ChickX!

Thank you so much for your help and comments. I wanted to update you all on this amazing "Magpie Spy" story. I contacted the breeder and he said he had to re-arrange his breeder pens as the only way it happened is the Blue Breda Rooster mated with his show quality Mille Fluer through the aviary netting. I did sell these little magpie spies to wonderful homes and am waiting for him to ship me the eggs I originally purchased. They are Belgium Bearded Mille Fleur and Blue Breda Polish which are extremely rare here. They began to really feather out beautiful.

Thanks all

Red---- this is the one. The Columbian coloring....he was a boy for sure. (crowing and RED comb)! Would have been so pretty I wish it could have been female!

This is the one in question. More speckled but the pattern is still there...The second one back, White on the breast like the boy, but in the next pic you will see waaay more speckled on his back. So crossing fingers. you never know!

The tail is what makes me worry. BUT Cynthia's black did this and it is looking like a girl so I still have hope :)

Wow, yeah, I can see why you're concerned, Lisa. I hope you have at least one girl in there. They're beautiful birds! That smaller one looks kind of girlish to me, but that could just be me.

Oh now you have my hopes soaring again lol. The tail is raunchy but the rest is still looking reasonably girlish. But everything I read says this coloring an on EE is bound to go south. :/ I really like them. I want an EE from cowgirl so bad! But it has to be a 'she'.

Birdman, if you are on here let me know what you think? You have read all that ee feather stuff! Boy or girl? I can get more pics if needed. It really is dark dark brown and white, but looks more and more black and white. The head is getting almost solid dark. Beard and muffs have turned mostly dark. Hey! Bunny pics would be FUN!
