Utah!

Sasha..love it! Fun to see new babies..in a video even. I tried that..but it was with my other camera that didn't work. Maybe I can get this one to work. Will have to try again.

Lisa, I am getting that new bator, remember? I have to have eggs to give it a try. Wondering how long it will take to get here. I will get it going, then put all of my eggs I have in there.

Silkies, ready to hatch this upcoming week. Exchequuers in three weeks, Welsummers hopefully in three weeks..and the icelandics. I want to put the bator downstairs, still want that room cleaned and fixed up again.

Yay! SashaT 1st one out. I can't remember how many you are hatching. Keep the pictures coming.

Lisa tell everyone in Idaho Falls hi for me. Hahaha That is where I was born and grew up. I was really going to try and make it so I could bring these little silkies to my sister but I'll have to do it another time. I'm sad I won't be able to go to chickenstock or see my family. Sigh. It is about a 9 1/2 hour drive for me. So have lots of fun. I hope your chicks wait until you get home to hatch.

Welllll....Lisa is helping me hatch because it was my first time, and I didn't have an incubator. But when I received *32* eggs (ordered 24) and Lisa only had room for 25, my DH caved and let me buy a cheap-o still air incubator for the extra eggs. I kept the 8 extra to try to hatch, Lisa held on to the rest. :) But these eggs have been a challenge! I went into lockdown with 4 and Lisa went into lockdown with...9? One egg at Lisa's exploded just after lockdown started I think so we may be down to 8 in that bator. Half of the eggs weren't even fertile, in our defense.

My DH is teasing me, that I have one heck of an expensive chick! $70 for the eggs themselves, $50 for the incubator, $20 for the thermometer/hygrometer, etc. Yep, he's going to be a spoiled little roo if he's the only one!

ohhhhhhh hhoooo oohhh!!! That is right, the NEW bator, the big guns, I cannot believe I had forgotten about that! You have to post us a pic with it all loaded up. That is exciting! Now you are making me want to come see you for chicks again lol I really have to be done! Done I say! Til next spring......may hatch a few more for fun. I just have Sasha's hatching (hoping!) tomorrow, then Donnas in two weeks.....then my blue wheaten eggs will go in when i get back tomorrow. Well---I am wishing they would not be hatching over Memorial Day though, we wanted to go camping so I have to decide whether to let them wait a couple days to go in, I hate to lose fertility BUT I hate to stay home too. Maybe I can ask her how long I dare wait.....

Eeeek!!! Those eggs were $70! Oh FOR THE LOVE OF PETE! That is a lot. For half infertile eggs she really should be helping you out a little.....that is an awful lot of dinero, even if they were all fertile..! We are actually down to 6---one cracked and oozed the first day, one totally erupted/ exploded the next day, and one started oozing last night (that had the explosion on it) The eggs that leaked were very very porous---lots of clear spots on them. There was a half formed chick in the last one but it had a dark green liquid in the yolk sac----bacteria. But wow they smelled BAD. Really bad, I am not kidding :p But hopefully none of the others got contaminated and they will be ok.... They better be for that much money....your $140 chick should be 10 $14 chicks, that sounds a lot better.

Were they so expensive because they are auto-sexed chicks?

You could always bring your incubator full of wheatens over to my house for lockdown.

Lisa I didn't know you were from there also. I remember reading you had a son that lives there. I'll have to PM you and find out where you grew up actually and see if we know any of the same people from there.
SashaT I forgot you were going too! How many more eggs do you have to hatch? I love horses but I haven't own one since I was a kid. I have friends who have horses so I get my horse fix from their horses. I go watch one of my friends daughters compete in horse shows quite often. I love horses and wish I could own one again. Anyway have fun at chickenstock tomorrow. I'm looking forward to hearing about it from you guys.

My first batch was 50 dollars and I only got one chick.

I'm surprised my DH let me try again. I need to know people I can get eggs from.

I have 3 more eggs to hatch here and Lisa has 8ish at her place. This is my first attempt at hatching, so of course I bought eggs that had to be shipped from SC.

I was raised with Quarter Horses and 1 token Arabian. Our neighbors had Saddlebreds and he (Wes) used to train for The William Shatner, who was always big into Saddlebreds. After I married my DH, it was about impossible to have my own horses because he was military and we moved a lot. So I worked where there were horses! Judith Foerentino in Alabama has a 3 Day Eventing training center and I worked for her, and in Washington state, I worked for Gayle Wilkenson, who trains cutting horses.
Now that the DH has retired, I have my own horse again.

Anywho....my iPhone will be handy tomorrow so I'll be posting pictures, probably once I get home. I haven't figured out how to post pictures from my phone...I always just send them to my email then add them through the computer.
