I'm not really a chicken fan either, but I'm liking moms frizzles! (and I could never go veggie! I like eating chicken too much)I hear that! My DH likes them secretly but won't admit it, thus giving him a reason to tease. My daughter despises chickens and has gone completely vegetarian since I got mine. I cannot imagine either of them getting on here........My littlest son is a fan though.....likes them quite a bit. He will be on here when he is olderSo I have a half and half.![]()
I have some feather picking going on again. Seems to never end. Have a few missing tails out there is is making me angry.Always the most beautiful tails to go first.![]()
Hey Donna! I sold the BLRW at record speed again, a guy called and wants more than I have left so I told him to look your ad up on ksl and see if you have any left. He wanted 3-6 I believe. I only had two left. Sheez it is funny how much faster those sell than the other breeds I have had. Those and the Blue orps were funI had the ad on for an hour, sold all but two, now the last two cannot get sold because the last few calls have wanted 5 or so. I hope you have more for him. or can tell him when you are hatching next. I was not sure.
Red, just let us know when you'll be out this way and I'll send ya directions!Sasha - Yep! I'll bet I know who it is that owns that mansion barn. The house is on a hill, right? I can't remember if it's white, too (the house, not the hill, lol) My best bud lives in Paradise, so we've driven by there a few times and awed at it. Small world. Next time I go up there to see her, maybe I'll have to check and see if I can stop in and say hi to you guys?
Sphinx, I can't blame people for not wanting their chickens to be eaten, but I'm glad you're okay with these cockerels being destined for the dinner table. I try to use them for more than just food, too - right now, they're part of the pest patrol crew, and when it's time for them to be dispatched, I'll be using most, if not all the feathers off of them. And don't worry, I can assure you that I'm a big advocate of quick methods of dispatch that have little or no suffering for the bird.
The cockerels' GLW heritage is really becomming more apparent. Two of them are clearly mutts, but the one that has the most black to him is really turning out nicely. My boyfriend likes that one best. They're big, too. I'm just waiting for them to crow. My EE roo better be careful, or he'll get jumped one of these times when he decides to harrass the teens.
LOL! My family has snuck up on you! Brycen hangs out over in the Backyard Herds section-she's into the goats and horse...but helps out with all the other critters willingly, so who knows? Maybe we'll get her on here eventually, too.Geez you guys have the whole family on here lol! Is this Daughter #1 (S) or Daughter #2 (B)? You guys are too funny. I was thinking those ducks look like the kind Sasha has......duh I should have figured it out, I did not get the parental comment until nowEDIT----I see now this is the older daughter from the comment on your siggie. I am getting sloooowwwww! haha! Glad to see you on here! Fun for the whole family!![]()

Speaking of pulling feathers, I keep going back and forth about rehoming my EE roo. Today, he sealed his fate when he grabbed a hold of my GLW's wing and pulled hard and wouldn't let go! Right in front of me, the little brat! I'm keeping Clay (crele bantam Wyan) for the bantam side of the coop anyway. So expect to be seeing a pretty EE roo up on KSL in the next day or so.I hear that! Perhaps the pretty tails go first because the others are jealous of the beautiful chickens.![]()

I know what you mean...My beautiful Silver laced Wyandotte that won best of breed last year has a bare spot on her back...I am not happy about that...I think it is time for HenRee to move on. I think she sits next to them at night and just picks at the neighbors feathers
I don't know, I don't dare let the new pretty americana out there until I am sure no one is getting picked.
